This latest FBI raid of Mar-a-Lago, for example. Why remove the classified documents at all? And then, once the archivists and librarians figure out you have them and negotiate to get them back, why not give them all back? Why try to hang onto some of them and finally get ratted on by someone in your inner circle? Whatever he had, had to be severe enough to warrant a no-knock raid by the FBI. The whole thing is senseless and makes him look like a buffoon, but on the other hand, depending on what he was hiding, were there nefarious and Machiavellian machinations going on?

Personally, I have a lot of faith in the justice system and doubt the linked story is true or at least nowhere near the whole truth.  This is a more plausible defensive angle than planted evidence though!
