Careful there Brett.

You might be violating copyrights or unwritten TOS by posting those links.

You should be ashamed of yourself for writting just a one line comment!

Don't you know that you must produce a dissertation in your own words and not
rely on anyone else's thoughts when posting in this forum? They shoot messangers here!

JK!
Ray, if you have a problem with anything a moderator does, respond to that. These offhand remarks are really quite childish. I agree with a lot that you say including most of what you say about the press so I am certainly not doing anything out of any bias toward you. For your information, in the past, I asked Patrick not to not to post bare links for the same reason. As a result IMO, this forum took a slight turn toward the high road. If you don't have an idea of your own don't let someone else do ALL your thinking for you by simply posting a link.

Brett's post is a simple informative statement, not at all comparable to your drunken President thread. I hope that you read both of them again and say to yourself "It's all making sense now!" wink

Families purchase armor for their sons/daughters

Posted By Tom Rodstrom

I agree, it's pretty bad. $1000 of body armor per soldier for about 100,000 soldiers is $0.1 billion, a drop in the bucket given the budget for Bush's war.

Here's another link from a mainstream source:

Supernatural

Posted By Tom Rodstrom

I wouldn't call "intelligent design" science, but at the same time I do not rule out "supernatural". Since science knows almost nothing about what makes up 70+ percent of the universe (dark energy & matter) who knows what is natural or supernatural.

Bush's New Lies On Iraq

Posted By Tom Rodstrom

I'll wait for the speech. I really don't like to speculate on what might or might not be said in the future.

You might be firing your Bush Blaster a little early. wink

Here's the story:

A Journey That Ended in Anguish

Col. Ted Westhusing, a military ethicist who volunteered to go to Iraq, was upset by what he saw. His apparent suicide raises questions.

Non USA Based Moderators

Posted By Tom Rodstrom

I have no problem with a non-US based moderator, but with all due respect, I do not think Don is the right guy for the job in the Political Forum. I say this because one thing more than anything else seems to be necessary to do the job - a thick skin. From what I have seen in the past Don is too sensitive and takes things too personally. On at least one occasion he has left the forum in a huff due to a real or perceived insult. I like Don and appreciate his contributions to this forum, but I do not think that moderating this forum would be good for Don and vice versa.

The inevitable tangent

JB - "Can anyone find a piece written by a noted liberal thinker and commentator which similarly skewers the left?"

It could be that the Republicans are currently a much larger target for the skewer. wink

Bush/freedom 1 - Terrorists/libs 0

Posted By Tom Rodstrom

The title "Bush/freedom 1 - Terrorists/libs 0" have been deleted if anyone posted it. This is the reason:

By putting terrorists/libs together in this manner without comment it implies that terrorists and liberals share the same goals. This not true by any stretch of the imagination and is a gross insult to all liberals.

"Bush 1 - Terrorists 0 - Libs 0" would have been fine.

"Lib Policies Support Terrorists" would be a proper title since there is evidence to support the argument.

"The Bush Lies" and "Republicans Support Couch Potatoes" strings also have some evidence behind them.

Some people have complained that moderators have bias. That is absolutely true and cannot be avoided. Moderators do their very best to be objective and even handed in their moderation but it is impossible to completely eliminate all bias. That is why Herb was very wise to appoint moderators from both sides. I have missed posts that have sent Rick through the roof and vice versa. Moderators have deleted posts that the others would not have, but in most cases we all agree. If anyone here has a problem with a post, contact a moderator with a private message and we will be happy to look into it.

One more comment concerning this post from Patrick. The last post of his that was deleted had a title like "Liberman calls libs idiots". The story was about Liberman visiting Iraq and coming out for the war. Nowhere was there anything about Lieberman calling liberals idiots. That was a deliberate inflammatory statement by Patrick and it follows a long pattern.

There is another sad result (for conservatives) of this childish troll, the elections in Iraq seemed to go very well and that certainly appears to be a victory for Bush policies, but all the attention was diverted from the actual subject which would have made for some interesting dialogs. Perhaps one of our conservative members would like to try it again without a troll for a title.
