Let me see, the Nagler is more expensive, taller and heavier. Just admit it, you must have it......

TV102 Deal of the Year -- accessories?

Posted By Danny Vettoretti

I bought a Motofocus for my TV102. Works great since you do not touch the scope to focus - just the controller.

Binoviewing "problem", need help

Posted By Danny Vettoretti

Before buying a diagonal, try calling Harry Siebert at Siebert Optics. Let him know what the problem is. He can probably help you out with one of his OCAs and at a very good price.

Highly recommended resource.

Refractor Objective Lens Brush

Posted By Danny Vettoretti

I made a trip to the local drugstore. The cosmetician was very helpful. She swiped my arm with the brush just to show me how soft it was....

I almost bought the whole stock.....

I ended up with a goat "chin" hair powder brush for $20.

6 inch CATs, satisfied?

Posted By Danny Vettoretti

I owned a Meade Mak 7". Although the views were breathtaking, they were few and far between due to the closed tube design. Managing the temp inside the tube meant runing the fan an at least an hour before viewing and most of the time during viewing. If the tube does not come with a fan, good luck, as I doubt the tube temp would ever catch up with the outside temp. One night I noticed tube currents and started the fans. When I did that, the tube fogged up inside. I sold it after that and am now using refractors.

Cleaning eyepiece lens'?

Posted By Danny Vettoretti

Here's the routine I use:

Blower bulb for the big stuff
Then Brush - large goat hair cosmetics type
Spray LCD screen cleaner (Monster screen cleaner) on Q-tip - then rotating Q-tip while swiping surface so clean part of Q-tip on eyepiece surface at all times.
Last, use micro fiber cloth to clean / polish eyepiece

14m to 17mm binoviewer pair

Posted By Danny Vettoretti

I can't say enough about my 2 X 16mm T6 Naglers. 123X - 185X while viewing Jupiter and Saturn or flying over the moon is incredible.

I use an 2X - 3X multi OCA and have not noticed edge issues on my TEC140.

which telescope

Posted By Danny Vettoretti

FWIW - I would recommend considering the the AP 155 - 160, which is setup for photography. The 155 - 160 would not have diffraction spikes which the Mewlon would have. As well, any of the TEC refractor products would be a great setup for photography with field flattener. The TEC wait time is significantly less as well. I have a TEC140 and the quality of the tube and views are simply - - - impressive.

As for the AP, I realize the wait might be 6 years for a 160 but used 155s in pristine condition show up for sale from time to time.

I recently saw one for trade in Italy

LXD55 Power?

Posted By Danny Vettoretti

Positive.

I checked with my multimeter and as well, the power supply has a little diagram that shows the center post as being positive.
