Saturn with C11

An excellent image, Ralph. I think the posted image could stand up fine to a 1.5x resize.

Johannes,

What a treat to see Plato in the context of the surrounding area at such amazing resolution. Superb!

From Tycho to the southern limb

Johannes,

I love this image. Don't give a thought to the mosaic plan, the wealth of detail makes up for it ten times over.

Thanks a million for posting.

Cleaning mirrors with alcohol.

Posted By Bob Schnitzer

I have a 25-year old 10" classical cassegrain set (Coulter) that I have cleaned only three times since it was purchased in 1980. The procedure was the same - initial rinse with distilled water, wash with mild detergent/distilled water solution (no scrubbing, wiping - just soap action), and final thorough rinse in distilled water. Even if a few specs of dirt refuse to dislodge - leave them alone and don't try to scrub them off - it's not worth the wear on the mirror surface.
my 2cents.

Astronomers discover Registax

Been there, done that.

Look for the pros to "discover" map point processing in a couple of years.

Apollo Landing sites!

I love this image! Your eye naturally goes exploring from rille to crater to mountain shadow to upland hills. Thanks for posting, Mike.

Where to/how to start?

Enrico,

Check out the possibility of putting the structure you want on an attached deck. In my area the rules for deck mounted structures are less stringent than grade mounted ones.

Posidonius and the edge!

Mike,

Thanks for posting a fantastic pic of one of my all-time fav craters. Sometimes you can tell that an imager has struggled to get a good image on the edge - not so here. Excellent.

I think this is a Kazakhstanian Mak-Cass (Mak-Kaz) with a patented high-pressure water cooled mirror.
