A used Bogen 3036 with an adjustable geared center column is very nice and stable. It's heavy though...but you gain in stability. If you're on some kind of flat patio or deck, you can get the nice Bogen dolly so you can push your setup anywhere.

Oh..My...Word. I plugged in a good monitor and realized how horrible this first processing truly was! It's like I'm wearing rose-tinted glasses. Here's a readjustment with this pretty well calibrated monitor. What a difference. Thanks to those who offered their suggestions. Ivan
