Al Qaeda defeated in YemenPosted By Tom Rodstrom |
Jim, your ability to miss the point is astounding. It could not be learned. It must be a gift.
This article is about Yemen, I changed the title to help you understand what should be obvious.
If your answer was, the were businessmen, not politicians, read this: http://www.rotten.com/library/bio/usa/spiro-t-agnew/
PEACENICK ??? I am a Vietnam vet and you can rest assured that I would not hesitate to put an enemy in the ground. I just am smart enough not to goad all his cousins into joining the fight.

It doesn't look like we will need to send our troops to Yemen, does it?Jim Babcock said:
Based on this then I guess we can bring our soldiers home - YEAH this war is over - we can disband our military and never have war again.
This is only part of the solution, but it is a part that we do not pursue. Your constant harping about the "corrupt UN" is stupid and boring. You seem to want to say that because a few corrupt individuals in the UN decided to get rich on Hussein's money, that the whole UN which voices the opinions of hundreds of nations in a democratic manner has no credibility. In America, a few corrupt individuals decided to get rich on California energy (ENRON in case you are wondering). Does that make all of America and what America stands for corrupt?I guess this has been the solution for all conflicts in history, let's debate them and then they will love us. I am surprised that this debate was not run by the corrupt UN debating society.

The only peace Israel has had was due to an idea, "Land for Peace". When the Palestinians thought that they would get a viable nation of their own, violence dropped to unprecedented levels. In 2000, prior to the current strife, only 6 Israelis were killed by Palestinians. Now Israel has gone back to its cage'em and blast'em policy which has failed to bring peace in decades. If we had a balanced foreign policy in the Middle East it's possible that the 9/11 attack would not have happened.I am sure the hijackers on 9/11 and the homicide bombers in Israel over the years just wanted a debate.
Al Qaeda has been beat in Yemen. We still need to hunt Bin Ladin down. Yemen is a poor Islamic country, an ideal recruiting ground for Al Qaeda. It bombings and attacks were in the news constantly. Now it is most certainly relatively peaceful.Since Al Qaeda has been beat, when you expect Osama to come out of hiding to debate? BTW, what does "relative peace" mean?
If you bothered to look I only posted the start of the article leading up to the dialog. I did not post any conclusions and I never said that dialog was the only tactic to use.I guess the following paragraph from your article did not fit the peacenick agenda so it was not included in your post:
>>> To be sure, the prisoner-release program is not solely responsible for the absence of attacks in Yemen. The government has undertaken a range of measures to combat terrorism from closing down extreme madrassahs, the Islamic schools sometimes accused of breeding hate, to deporting foreign militants.
