A beautiful sequence Jim! An Io transit is one of my fav Jovian events to witness, it all happens so quickly, plus the cool colour contrast of yellowish Io on Jupiters creamy globe is just so cool!

Hey Wes welcome back!! Was it a case of life getting in the way of astronomy? Thats usually the case eh?
Wonderful images, as always I esp love the Curtius area one. Wow just 74 frames sure as hell no problem with any noise in the image!
Tell me do you ever do a regestered avi with one align pt and then do lots of little 64 pixel MAPS? My tracking never lets me do anything smaller than 128's. Stefan told me this trick and I was wondering if you use it too.

Hi John,

Wow great detail level! Esp for that aperture! I'm pretty convinced now that more aperture for planets is couterproductive, for most parts of the world and average seeing 8-12" seems to be ideal.
I looked at the histogram on your image and stretching it (enlarged it a bit too) seemed to help see all the fine detail. Would be better to do of course on the original tiff.

Wow 150 map pts? Those little 64 pixel boxes must be right side by each! Does that many really make a big difference? For that size image I use max 30-50.

How do you like the colour Skynyx cam? I'm thinking of getting one for Jupiter and Mars
Using the filter wheel on an altaz mount is too much of a pain!
