High res Straight wall

Hi all,

Well I've taken a bit of a break from the internet (sometimes it just sucks up too much time :S ) but after this mornings imaging I thought I'd share some of my images.
BTW after surfing this forum it seems I've missed quite a few awesome images!!
This morning the seeing was a passable 5-6/10 so I wanted to try my Schular IR passband filter. I screwed it into the 5X's Powermate and shot the Straight wall as my 1st object. This filter sucks up a lot of light so I had to set the exposure to 1/25 instead of the usual 1/250 or 1/500. Still it seemed to give me more sharp frames compared to no filter, the theory is the near IR is less prone to seeing degradations. I'm very happy with the result, esp the detail in Birt crater.
scope 18" Starmaster, Atik B&W webcam, 5X's powermate
used reg2 and Images Plus.

Rays of Messier

Hi all,

Finally got some clear weather here (for about an hour but what the hey) with not too cold temps of -13C, seeing was only 5/10 and transparency poor.
Shot the crater Messier A, and some cool ghost craters, Rima Messier is visible with a few craterlets at its end. Not really very high res but I like the lighting!
Stack of 300 done in Reg 3. 18" Starmaster 5X's powermate, atik B&W webcam.

Saturn from Ontario

Hi,

Here is my attempt at Saturn, shot last night in 6/10 seeing and poor transparency. I think I did not use enough gain (I used about 10-20% gain) as the A ring is not as big as it should be and the crepe is almost non existent.
Still I like the way it turned out, even though the stack should be bigger.
details:
18" Starmaster, 5X's powermate, Toucam 740, 1/25 sec exp, 90% brightness, 100% sat, 10fps for 220 seconds. stack of 415 done in Images Plus

Cassini at -20C!

Hi all,

I'm a cold but happy camper! Finally had some clear weather but since its in Ontario Canada during Jan of course it has to be when it bloody cold out! I only lasted about an hour and a 1/2 but i shot a bunch of objects.
Seeing was 7/10 Trans 6/10
I used an IR passband filter I think it helped to minimize some bad seeing.

Calippus. with 18" Starmaster

Hi,

Bear with me I did a bunch of craters tonite!
Same conditions as with Cassini, it was too cold to swap ep and camera so I just "drove" around using the handcontroller until I found something cool to image. This one was near Exodus so I think it is Calippus, a neat crater with a very steep wall.

Hi,

Since I had no game plan and the cold was getting to me, I just imaged what looked cool on the monitor, after imaging Arzachel I did this interesting overlaping crater group, one of them has a nice crater chain, the one on the far right has an interesting ~ tilde shape in it. I THINK it may be Barocius but I'm not sure....anyone....anyone... Beuller? 8)

Hi all,

Hadley rille from last nights imaging run, its a bit dark since I used an IR passband filter (Schular 820nm) but I still like the look. Theres a very similar pic of it on page 31 of Charles Woods "The Modern Moon".
