Before I cut the truss's

Posted By Sonya Ward

Hi Astro folks,
I am finishing up a 16" truss type dob. My question is which size eyepiece should I use to check focal lenght on before cutting the truss tubes. How much travel should I expect in the focuser. ( would hate to fine out after I cut them too short.)
Thanks
Sonya

Its finished !

Hey all,
Well I got it done and it works great! Thanks to all of you here I could not have built this with out you. One question though. I am currently using 1.25" eyepieces. Will the focal lenght change if I want to use 2.00" eyepieces. I really don't want to trim the poles again.

Any recommendations for a book on ccd imaging

Posted By Sonya Ward

Hi Astro pals,
Can anybody recommend a good easy to understand book on CCD imaging? I have a Starlight express MX7 and I really would like to learn to use it.

Aiming the scope

Posted By Sonya Ward

Hey Astro imaging pals,
Ok I am new at this so be patient with me. How do you aim the scope? If the camera is in the scope how do you line up the object you want to image? I have a 8" celestar deluxe and a starlight MX7C camera. My spotting scope is too small to do much good.

I have the camera now what?

Posted By Sonya Ward

Ok, I bought a Starlight express MX7 and now I am so confused. With all the choices of mounts & software. I have a 8" Celestron deluxe but it doesn't track well enough. What is a good choice for someone who wants to start imaging. Some software will operate the camera and mount true? I just don't know what to spend my money on or what not to spend money on.
I also have a Orion SVP 120EQ w/dual axis drives.
Limited budget of course.

Just a note I purchase a skycap for the street light in front of my house. It worked! I couldn't believe it. No stray light in my back yard now. Heres the link if you have a light that is driving you crazy. grin
