I've often chided those who talk about climate in the distant geological past because it often has little relevance to the current warming trend. However, if gas hydrates release methane like this, then we will be back to the Eocene warmth.

This is no statistical sleight of hand. It is simply how unemployment is calculated regardless of Rep or Dem. Unemployment statistics only include people looking for work. Just wait, when companies start hiring again and jobs are created, then the unemployment rate may increase as positive sentiment sends more people looking for work.
