Why an APO or Refractor?

Well, when I look at the Double Cluster with my 127mm, the stars are true pin points that range from the absolute pins to large brilliant points of marvelous colors and the field is completely flat and free of aberration. That alone is worth the cost of admission.
My 14.5" Starmaster also gives a beautiful view of the Double Cluster, but not the same tight pin point view.

Glad to hear that you're enjoying the refractors. wink

Any 24mm Hyperion Reviews?

Posted By Kurt Endres

I bought a pair for binoviewing. With my scopes ( Apo refractors, f/6 480mm, f/6.4 650mm and f/8 790mm)and my eyes, I find that I like them a lot. Some curvature is present, but not overly annoying and minimal Astigmatism. ER is not 20mm as stated...more like 16mm or 17mm at most, but can still be taken in with glasses on...just not as comfortably as my XW's.

Overall....for $99.00, they are well worth it. IMO

I see Alpine has sold out on their current supply of baader 24mm hyperion eyepieces with more reportedly available at the end of October. So somebody out there must have one they can report on, especially if it's used on a fast scope and/or compared to a 24mm panoptic. Anybody?...

If anything, you should move up in correction...not down! My left eye is 1.75 and my right is 2.00...I have found that the 2.00 actually works better than the 1.75 for my left eye. I now plan on buying the 2.25 for my right.
