CaK PST Imaging

Posted By Mike Dedon

More of you are in the know than I. Does the CaK PST have the same limitations for prime focus imaging as the Ha PST. From the design looks of it, I would expect similar "reaching focus" issues would exists, but is that as true for CaK light as Hydrogen.

Coronada admits CaK is not necessarily a visual medium but better used for imaging. Anyone have more info on those capabilities of this scope.

I am thoroughly addicted to Ha and expect to move up to a SM40 or 60 later this year, and the possibility for CaK as well is exciting. Maybe an Xray PST for the next maximum is coming?

Withdrawal and Irritability

Posted By Mike Dedon

Sold my PST this week. Bought a double stacked SM40. PST left earlier this week. SM40 won't be here 'til Monday. Gotta work Monday, Tues, Wed...... Skies cleared the day I shipped the PST. Supposed to rain Monday. Today the sky has no clouds, so blue it hurts to look up. But how would I know if the sun is shining. I have no Ha filter to see!!! AAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!

T-Adapter for SM40/Nikon D70

Posted By Mike Dedon

I'm really ingnorant in this area. I want to mount my Nikon D70 to my Maxscope 40 for prime focus imaging. I already have a T-ring for the nikon. Can someone tell me what vendor and what specific T-Adapter to ask for. I've done searches on my favorite vendors and it seems that these are listed specific to the scopes and Coronado is not one of them. TIA.....

Ghost images in MS40

Posted By Mike Dedon

I bought a used double-stacked Maxscope 40 a few weeks ago here on AM. I get a lot of ghost images until I fix on one that appears to be the brightest. Not really a problem since I've started to get used to it but is this normal.

I do realize that handling the T-max on both SM40s and focus at the same time is not as easy as my old PST, but I am really glad I moved to the new scope.

2nd Login Location

Posted By Mike Dedon

I know we can now setup "other" email addresses but I would like to be able to have two locations. My work computer and my home computer. I would expect there is some type of cookie or IP verification that is done to isolate the default location.

I know it's trivial to have to login at one or the other locations but was wondering if there was anything I'm missing or is there anything in the works to allow this? Both locations are legitimate non-commercial/not-free ISPs.

Looking for the perfect one!

I can't explain it. Sometimes he gets this way. This was last weekend and the first real snow covering of the year.

Remote Shutter for Nikon D70s Question

Posted By Mike Dedon

Preparing our bird habitat for this year and would like to setup a remote camera station. I want to use my D70s in a sheltered box but need a way to remotely activate the shutter. The camera will be about 20' away from a focal area of the garden but I need to be 50' further away.

Last year I used telephoto lenses on a tripod from the deck but wanted to try something different. Anyone know of any options?
