Proud new owner of an FS128! One question..

Posted By John Boyd

Daniel,

Congratulations on your new FS-128. You will love it.

The only pictures I have seen of the new microfocuser is here

http://www.buytelescopes.com/product.asp?pid=6974

Click on large images and there are several nice views of the focuser. We are still waiting for the first ones to ship.

Hope that helps......oh by the way...your counterweight and shaft fell off : )

Clear skies to you

warning of new fraudulent buyer

Posted By John Boyd

I just received this private message from a Kenneth Owens KENDO44:

We are interested in buying your above mentioned product (Tele Vue TV76 APO OTA ) at advertised rate of $970.00. Goods to be picked up from your location for onward shipping to London. Cost and modalities of shipping to be born by us.

Payment for the purchase is by check through a debtor in US. The debtor owes us higher than our purchase. He will therefore be sending you a check for $5,500 to cover the cost of our order, as well as the Shipping costs.

On receipt of the check, you will cash and deduct the cost of our order .The balance you will send as we would instruct you to the Agency that will ship the Goods to us. If this arrangement suites you fine, please send us your address where to send the check, as well as the name to be on it. Also send us your phone number for easy communication.

Looking forward to hearing from you through >[email protected]<.

Thank you.

10:1 microfocuser arrived

Posted By John Boyd

Ron,

I received mine last week. I did not find the instructions until after I installed it. They were folded in with the receipt from ATWB. I must say that it went on my SKY-90 without a glitch (even without the instructions) wink . I did spend a few moments looking at the flat aluminum piece trying to figure out what the heck it was. After a bit I noticed the two prongs on the end and concluded that it was a tool to remove the bottom focuser cap. It is great that they included that and the little Allen wrench.

The 10x focus feels a bit "spongy" in use, but it looks great and certainly works well. Helps a LOT smile

Tak 12.5 LE's?

Posted By John Boyd

Mike,

I have used a pair of the 12.5LEs in my Denks with several refractors including my FS-128 and they were excellent. They do not provide the wide field of view that some prefer, but the LEs are relatively light, very sharp, and quite comfortable in the BV.

Cataracts

Posted By John Boyd

Steven,

I am 52 and have had cataract surgery in both eyes. My left eye was done about 4 years ago and just recently my right eye. The biggest thing you notice right away is that what you thought was white...is really yellowed by the aging of your natural lens. When I had the left eye done I was amazed at the difference in the color between the new lens and my right eye with my natural lens. Since I am right eye dominant, I dreaded the day when I might need to have it done. Well...I am happy to report that my vision at the eyepiece is better than it has been for years and I did not even realize it. I am much more sensitive to colors (especially blue) and found that false color was much easier to detect. My latest "new lens" is acrylic and seems to be much sharper than the lens inserted 4 years ago (silicon). My surgeon told me that they have made some excellent improvements in the implants over the past few years and my experience sure bears that out.

In a nutshell....there is no alternative to the surgery. If you are noting the blur now..it does not take long for it to take over. 1 week after the surgery I was back at the eyepiece and although I still had a reddish (blood)tint the sharpness was already returning. I had a slight double image until the swelling went down. I also had to be very careful not to bump the healing eye. If you have any specific questions or would like to discuss this with me off line you can contact me through my web site at www.jbastro.com

Hope that helps some and good luck

John

Spyware

Posted By John Boyd

Ed,

DSO Exploit is actually a hole in MSIE. Spy Bot will not remove it and will continue to report it unless you use the advanced features and tell Spy Bot to ignore it. IF you have the latest Microsoft security patches for MSIE it is not a problem and has been fixed. IF you do a google search for DSO Exploit you will find a lot of information about it. It is not anything from Astromart. (Unless Herb and Bill Gates are the same person....ummmm....I wonder...)

Hope that helps.

Spyware

Posted By John Boyd

Pete,

Do not confuse SpyBot or Adaware with virus scanning software. They are two different products. SpyBot and Adaware are quite effective at locating and removing "spy ware" or items that allow tracking vulnerabilities in your system, but they are not designed to scan for Viruses like McAfee, Norton, or any of the other virus protection programs. They are nice additions to your regular virus scanning software, but will not replace it.

Hope that helps,

John Boyd

No Price on main ad display?

Posted By John Boyd

Anthony,

Click on Account Menu on the left of the screen, click display preference, then scroll down to the classified settings. Make sure that price is checked and then save.

That should display the price on the main screen if the person who placed the ad put the price in the field.

Hope that helps.

John
