Hmm, where is Davis?

Congratulations in Michigan, Jim! Needless to say, we are a git giddy in Texas. I was pretty sure Talarico would win, but Hinojosa is a pleasant addition.

I was watching Faux News when trump called in. He was pretty conciliatory, but of course was not taking the blame.

Only got four hours of sleep but it was worth it. grin

Yeah, this is pretty great. Dan Patrick is out too! Hopefully, the Democrats can get something done about the affordability of healthcare, because it is completely out of control in Texas. As I've said before, I'm paying $1,500 a month for a Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) Texas Bronze-level ACA policy, which was the cheapest option available to me in 2026. In addition, I've spent at least another $8,000 just accessing healthcare in 2026, for a total of $26,000; that is bonkers and simply not possible for most people. I got my BCBS TX renewal estimate for 2027, and my premium is supposed to increase to $1,700 per month, but thankfully I'll be on Medicare by April of 2027. My premium could be even higher, though. I've seen plenty of anecdotal evidence on social media that premiums are going even higher than the estimate I received. Whatever the Democrats can achieve will be too late for me. Still, I'm certain there are lots of people who have had to forgo medical care, and even many who have died and suffered greatly simply because Republicans were hell-bound to destroy "Obamacare," no matter who it hurt.
