Hatch Outraged: Utah Land Protected

Posted By Mike Strieber

Rod Kaufman said:

The Obama administration wants to consider potential monuments in Utah to prevent the land from being plundered by corporate interests and Oral Hatch is outraged? It doesn't appear from the comments in the article that too many seem to agree with him so just who does he really represent?

Can't you just wait to see Flip Romney elected so he can stand there with Oral and shovel the first scoop of earth that turns the natural arches in Utah into a gravel pit?

Sounds to me like they may have a legitimate beef: "They remember all too well 1996, when then-President Bill Clinton surprised and angered many Utahns by going to the Grand Canyon during the heat of his re-election campaign and unilaterally setting aside 1.7 million acres in Kane and Garfield counties as the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument."

Couldn't possibly be any political points being sought here by Obama now could there Rod? There was a day when states would petition the federal government to set aside land as national parks and monuments. Now it's dictated by the federal government, do they know these states better than the people that live there? The last thing I want to see is a beautiful place strip mined for coal or something but I don't think that is what Obama's motives are here. There are trades between the environment and the welfare of the human race and the environmental lobby is massive, the human race lobby doesn't exist. I grew up in Utah and enjoy the hell out of the parks, at least let the good folks there have some say in Obama's political decisions. I doubt that anyone in the administration has even been to any of these places, I mean come one, they're all from Chicago.

Deficit Hawks?

O.K., let's hear the excuses!

At least he gets called on it...from the right no less. Unlike the "Deficit Doves" running the White House and Congress now. Show me someone on the left who said anything about Pelosi and her Copenhagen posse. Pelosi spends extravagantly and frivolously like money is going out of style, which it actually is thanks in no little part to her.

"All we've heard," the Fox News host complained, is "we need a big tent. We need a big tent. Can we get a bigger tent? How can we get a big tent? What is this the circus? America is not a clown show. America is not a circus." - Glenn Beck at CPAC

Read the quote, Watch the Link. Enjoy the show.

Ok, I'll bite; is there a point to your post? By the way, have you ever watched Keith Olbermann Steve? I have a feeling you haven't or you wouldn't be posting about the antics of Glenn Beck. After second thought, yes you would, disregard.

Can't we have Tort, Malpractice Reform?

Because of the Democrat's "big oil", otherwise known as trial lawyers. But no, only Republicans are playing politics with healthcare. The only argument against it the Dems have is that "it doesn't save that much". Then what's the problem with putting it in? Trial lawyers, that's the problem.

Lessons in Hypocrisy: Utah Again

Posted By Mike Strieber

Rod Kaufman said:

Utah is back at it. First, we had Hatch calling the White House whining about the mere possibility that the federal government might want to create a national monument from federal land. Today we get this: "There are times when the state needs to push back against continued encroachment from the federal government". So they enact some cockamamie gun bill:
http://www.sltrib.com/news/ci_14477838
Yesterday, however, Utah was screaming for the feds when a private company wanted to dump nuclear waste(you know the kind of waste you might get when you do what Republicans want and build nuclear power plants all over the place)into the state:
http://www.sltrib.com/news/ci_13414863
Same thing with the stimulus funding:
http://www.usnews.com/blogs/john-farrell/2010/02/09/republican-stimulus-hypocrisy-they-knew-it-would-work.html
and:
http://www.deseretnews.com/article/700010130/Stimulus-brought-18K-Utah-jobs-19B-for-projects.html

Did somebody in Utah steal your lunch money when you were a kid or something Rod? What's with your assault on Utah all the time? Why not New Hampshire, Arkansas, or better yet, California? I don't get it.

Utah Set to Criminalize Miscarriages

"New charge on dinner tab is in bad taste."
http://www.fox40.com/lifestyle/ct-trav-0228-health-charge-20100226,0,6283364.story

"The rationale for this one is to cover the employers' mandatory contribution to the City's "Healthy San Francisco" health-coverage system."

So now even tourists visiting California get to help pay for the local's socialized healthcare. California succeeds again at throwing their problems on the rest of the country. I’m sure the good folks in Utah don’t mind pitching in to dig California out of a hole; after all, they’ve already got shovels in their hands destroying national parks.

In other words, I/m picking up my ball and going home...

Better than picking Emanuel's balls out of your face in the shower.

I agree with Roberts. I thought it was another example of poor judgment continually exhibited by Obama and his administration. Criticize the ruling all you want, but don’t call out the Supreme Court in the State of the Union address, in essence on a world stage. Poor taste and very demeaning of his own stature as president. The Justices are in no position to respond in that case and were made to look like fools sitting there taking abuse from an administration that already has a reputation for thuggish-like tactics and Chicago style politicking. It was kind of like beating up a handicapped person for parking in a non-handicap spot at Wal-Mart. From crap like this to sending Rahm Emanuel to threaten congressmen to vote a certain way, this administration is akin to the mafia. I haven’t slept since I heard the story of Rahm stalking congressmen in the showers, poking them in the chest with threats, all with his twig and berries dangling in their face. What a sick bastard. Speaking of face; Rahm Emanuel is the face of Barack Obama. And you guys have issue with Karl Rove? Wow. And as far as judgment is concerned? Obama is comfortable with this thug representing him? Says more for Obama than it does Emanuel. No wonder his approval ratings are down to 43% now, and dropping ten times faster than the unemployment rate.

As far as the SOTU, I like it and the tradition. It shouldn’t change, we should change who’s speaking at it if they can’t respect it.

Interesting article from the UK on Obama

What's really sad is the only defense to this article the left here can provide is that Obama doesn't really need a teleprompter. I found the article to be very accurate and in line with the way I perceive this administration.

Wow, thanks for digging that up Rod. I had forgotten all about that guy. I happened to be in Scotland when all this was going down with his release. I recall very clearly how outraged the general public was in the UK about his release. I'm sure the fact he is still alive is not going over well there. Perhaps they'll ask for him back? Yeah, right.
