As a noted world traveler I should be heading down to the Winter Star Party, but still recovering from my shoulder surgery and didn’t think wrangling an 80 lb. overbuilt dob would be too good for it.
7F sounds a little chilly! I decided to fly way south for the winter. Here is West Oz it has been 100+ for the past 2 weeks and this week it is around 115F. Even at night it is around 90F. Been great observing. Naked eye limiting magnitude 7.2 or better. 3 telescopes for visual and photographic observing. A beautiful aurora, a naked eye comet, and the magnificent southern skies... great fun. I would invite you to join me but I will be heading to Malaysia in 3 weeks. I plan to be back permanently by the middle of the year, so if you would like to come over to observe the southern skies then let me know.

The 90 at night has been good for observing. No humidity and a nice breeze. Shorts and "T" shirt weather.
The daytime temperatures are rather extreme though. Have to stay camped under the air conditioner. At least there is a brief cool change coming by Sunday. Forecast to be down to 98 during the day and 75 at night. I think we stole all of your warmth!
Actually the best times to visit WA are autumn (April-May) when the Sagittarius Milky Way is overhead at midnight, or spring (August-September) when the wildflowers are at their best and Orion is on the meridian at midnight.

Hi All,
Just come inside from observing the comet again after a few cloudy nights. Very impressive naked eye view. Although the nucleus has disintegrated, the tail is much longer and brighter.

The interesting thing is, regarding the 1.3 billion outlay, Biden was in office when that was agreed to. Also, Mexico agreed to send 10,000 troops to the border in April 2021. I wonder who was President then? And what is that so-called task force supposed to accomplish? Such task forces rarely ever accomplish anything meaningful.
So, Trump's "win" is that he got Mexico and Canada to agree to do some things they had already agreed to do prior to the trade war, and he also secured the creation of a meaningless task force and a meaningless fentanyl czar.
In return he had to agree to stop the flow of guns across the Mexican border. I wonder how hard he will work to ensure this is accomplished.

You are fortunate then. Those satellites were a real pain for me photographing Comet 2024 G3 ATLAS. I was taking hundreds of images to make animations of the comet as it set, and the images were criss-crossed with satellites.
Below is just one of those. A 20 second image using a 100mm lens. My 28mm lens images were worse.Funny, I remember back in the late 60's when Echo 1 was about the only naked eye satellite visible, we were ecstatic if we managed to photograph it. Now they are vermin!
