It's Always "In ABOUT TWO WEEKS"

Love how it left out my single word, but acknowledged my reason for using it.

ChatGPT is an excellent tool. I use it to meal plan, change up our workout routine regularly, summarize complex subjects, study Spanish, and provide coding assistance. It can even quiz you on any subject you want. I also use it to stay up to date on various topics that interest me, such as advances in CRISPR, cybersecurity, and native xeriscape gardening in this challenging environment we call Texas, among others. I've barely scratched the surface of what it can do, but I value it highly.

Big Day at the Supreme Court

This case is much bigger than birthright citizenship of course.  Many executive orders are under what (as of yesterday)
were nationwide preliminary injunction while the litigation progresses.

So, what prevents the next Democratic president from implementing an EO that seriously restricts 2A rights, even though it's unconstitutional? And while a court challenge takes years to wind its way through the process, it remains in effect. You can imagine a certain political demographic is not going to be happy about that.

Well, it looks like all the interested parties are already banding together to file a class-action lawsuit to circumvent the limitation that only federal district judges are involved. And they have 30 days to get organized and do it? I'm not sure this ruling made much of a difference. It seems a little premature for the right-wingers to be claiming it's some great victory.

If the next Leftist President tries to make that absurd imposition on the 2nd amendment, then legal groups will challenge it as they always do.

Then the SC will take up the issue. What don't you understand about that?

Where did the court say that every EO is unable to be challenged?

Apparently you are SO confused it is hard to describe in words what mindset you employ.

Nowhere did I say the executive order couldn't be challenged. I clearly stated, "And while a court challenge takes years to wind its way through the process..." Maybe try reading what's written instead of jumping to conclusions and misrepresenting people's words. You're not a legal authority, so cut the arrogant, know-it-all act; it doesn't strengthen your argument, it just makes you sound condescending and out of your depth.

Your mentality is utterly bizarre but then it is borne of and holds with radical leftist ideology just as I've stated all along for years.

You're no better informed on these matters than the rest of us. You're flailing because every time someone posts anything that doesn't fit neatly inside your MAGA echo chamber, you have to lash out. These weak knee-jerk reactions of yours are ultimately only an embarrassment for yourself.

Ok there are Your words exactly and they belie a complete ignorance on your part of the irrelevance of today's ruling on your statement there in bold.

Obviously you are completely confused, because by stating that boldfaced sentence, You imply that NOW something has suddenly CHANGED with respect to your statement there.

What changed from yesterday with respect to your confusion above?

Yesterday, before this ruling, your statement there applied the same as it applies today.

In other words, nothing in today's ruling prevents the Executive of the USA from instituting an executive order restricting 2A rights this very day, even if it is unconstitutional.

And guess what genius, nothing yesterday precluded the Executive from instituting an executive order restricting 2A rights yesterday.

So explain how today's ruling changed life for the President and his executive order.

Because you are angry that I called out your confusion there, don't get all pissed off.  Instead, explain your implication and if nothing HAS changed with respect to any President's ability to issue an executive order, which it hasn't, then why mention it?

Your statement there and your worry and hang wringing there is irrelevant.  Yesterday is no different from today.

As I already informed you, and I did so such that I could curb your confusion, all that today's ruling did was cement in stone the FACT that what are essentially the lowest courts in the land should not have the power to limit the President's powers under the US Constitution and his delineated powers under the document.

These low level courts don't have the power nor do they enjoy the ability to make injunctions that affect every person in the United States.

Are you now sufficiently thinking straight or are you still totally confused?

I made the mistake of reading your reply, and I genuinely feel dumber for it. You claimed I said something I didn't. Specifically, that executive orders can't be challenged in court, even though I clearly stated they can. When I pointed that out, you didn't back down; you spat out more incoherent word salad. For once in your life, try admitting you're wrong instead of doubling down. You'd look far less foolish if you did.

I apologize for triggering you.  There may be a medication out there somewhere that will cure your insanity.  I suggest you find some right away!

Once again, you struggle with reading someone's tone just as much as you struggle with reading comprehension. Nothing I wrote suggests anger. That's just your projection, because you need a distraction from the fact that you misrepresented what I said. Instead of inventing emotions to argue against, maybe focus on actually understanding the words in front of you. A remedial reading course might be a good place to start.

Even if I get a reply, it will be some word-salad gibberish that tries to distract from the fact that he once again misrepresented what I said and attacked a strawman. The funny thing to me is that Rich never seems to realize that by doubling down on his mistakes and gaffes, he only makes himself look more foolish. Any competent adult would admit to making a mistake and move on. But not Rich; he has never given up on the fantasy that he has caught me in some devastating gotcha moment. He bears a remarkable resemblance to Trump; it's uncanny. If he has a felony record or could obtain one, he could run for president.

This ruling will make a huge difference as a deterrent to either side forum shopping.)

The work around seems to me, if you insist on seeking a preliminary injunction, is to file parallel cases, one in each district you care about.   You may get an injunction in some districts, maybe you won't in others.  That is indeed how it used to be done in high profile cases.  I think the "nationwide injunction" thing is new.

I'm not sure this is a victory for right wingers,  but it is a victory for those who oppose forum shopping and for those who are uneasy with judges exercising nation-wide authority.  It only seems like a right wing victory now, as you noted, because of who is issuing the nation-wide injunctions, and who was being enjoined.

I agree, it does put an end to forum shopping, which was a bipartisan problem. But it seems to me that all this has done is now forced plaintiffs to either file a class-action lawsuit that covers all 50 states, or file a suit in every state either one of which creates a lot more case load not only in the federal courst, but also for Trump's DOJ to handle, and from what I understand, they are already swamped and have no headroom to handle yet more lawsuits and cases. This is hardly a massive win for Trump and his desire to end birthright citizenship. Any sane person would realize it was a losing battle, and they would be better off spending their time and energy elsewhere.

If this was big news, I missed it.  Or did the press soft-sell this story?  Of course a return to the US is what should have happened with a lot less fuss.  I wonder if we will even hear how the evidentiary hearing turns out?

Yes, I read about it when it happened, and Kirsti Noem made a pretty big show of it, because they are charging him with smuggling undocumented immigrants. Is it true? I have no idea, but at least now he gets his day in court. I believe the DOJ had already handed over discovery evidence to the defense, but I haven't seen any news about it. Before anyone jumps in here and accuses us of being in love with immigrant criminals, this is about his constitutional rights, not his guilt or innocence. His guilt or innocence is a matter for a criminal case, which I gladly leave to his lawyers.
