Hello Peter,

Nice image. You captured the Z spot very well! Can you adjust levels to brighten the image.

BTW where in San Diego are you located? Will be there on the 18th!

Vesta Resolved

Posted By Christopher Go

Thanks guys. Imaging Vesta has been a frustrating venture. I was a first skeptical with what I got. That was why I took images on 3 different days to make sure what I got was real!

What is an ideal scope for planetary imaging?

Posted By Christopher Go

The best scope that I have ever used was a 2.4m Ritchey-Chretien at low earth orbit. Sadly getting time for this is difficult.

But for the ground the larger the aperture the better! grin I'm dreaming of an 18" DK on an AP El Capitan!

Chris

Is this a good planetary camera?

Posted By Christopher Go

Ptgrey makes great cameras. I would say the best planetary cam would be the PTGrey Dragonfly Express which Anthony Wesley uses. The only problem with the PtGrey cameras is software. Or lack of. You have to make your own. I have a friend that bought a Dragonfly and ended up using a DMK because he couldn't get it to run. He even hired a programer to make a software for him. However, if you use Linux, you can ask Anthony to share his software.

Chris
