edit-Can Warren beat a damaged Trump?
I don't think the point is that Russian meddling was an existential threat. Rather, when you consider that in 2016 Trump won MI by a little more than 10,000 votes and that the Libertarian candidate got over 172,000 votes, it's hard to imagine that the multiple systemic efforts detailed in the Mueller report did not affect outcomes. That would be like saying the normal campaigning and pressing of the flesh that politicians do every election cycle makes no difference. Of course, electioneering and campaigning and advertising and caucusing make a difference in outcomes; it's why they do it. And it's why the Russians did what they did and it's why it probably did affect outcomes.
The larger point is though that it matters since the point of the meddling is to undermine the face of our credibility in the world so that they can pursue their interests more freely and without intervention from the West. Should we just let the Russians tell us what to think, how to act, and let them elect our leaders? Of course, it matters Mel. It matters a lot and no one should be electing our leaders other than us.
