The writer tries to be as fair to both sides as possible, but the fact that stories like this are even coming out speaks volumes about the trouble this Howdy Doody president is in. He is clearly a failed president who has lots of problems that the loyal opposition can use to further the cause for the American people. This idiot president is so extreme, yet has so much control of the government that we need to use every tool available to minimize him and his extremist destructive lib policies.

For the Bush years even up to 2004 or 2005, even Bush opponents in the press 'admired' the GWB whitehouse's 'message control' with no chinks in the armor. But as time went on, the wheels started coming off the message control. Message can control reality only to a limited extent .

Unless BHO admin can enact some kind of draconian and far-reaching control over press and free speech, message control will be increasingly more difficult for this set of ad-men also.

Bush had the 'ad-man in chief' Karl Rove, and BHO has his 'ad-man in chief' David Axelrod. I suspect Rove is a more substantive character, for an ad-man that is. Rove could have maybe got BHO elected with an even higher margin than did Axelrod .

Kind of a shame when the ad-man becomes arguably the most important fellow in an admenstruation. In years past, the title would be more accurately 'Minister of Propaganda'.

However, a new Maunder Minimum would be a vain hope for global cooling according to many AGW scientists. They have gone to great trouble to 'prove' that sunspot activity could not have sufficient effect on Earth to change the climate.

According to these guys, the solar variability in energy output is less than 1 percent, and they are certain that changes in the solar magnetic field and solar wind affecting earthly cloud cover via cosmic ray shielding, is a completely bogus theory. So they have nothing to fear from a new Maunder Minimum, the human contribution will continue to warm the planet regardless .

Hmmm. So when numerous non-climatologist scientists signed skeptical lists in the past, it was ripe for mockery.

So how is the situation different when non-climatologist scientists endorse AGW? This lends extra credence exactly how?

Jim, one reason I've read about raw climate data availability. Dunno if it is true. Just something I read.

Supposedly the various nations tend to retain intellectual property rights to the data they paid weather departments to collect, and they try to sell rather than give away the data to amortize the cost of maintaining weather departments.

If that is true, it makes it problematic to publish raw data you might have paid for, or obtained via data-sharing agreements, because releasing the data would be about the same as pirating someone else's computer program or music album.

This seems a roadblock to open-source validation of data and codes.

The bloodbath will happen. The severity of the bloodbath depends on fragmentation of traditional dem and republican parties.

Just as previous disfavor of republicans was split between people who thought republicans were too conservative versus people who thought republicans were liberal sellouts-- The woeful approval of the current power structure is split between folks who are disappointed that Obama hasn't nationalized EVERYTHING, versus folks who think Obama is even more liberal than the too-liberal Bush.

Greens were spoilers in 2000 and 2004. Libertarians and Constitution Party were somewhat less-significant spoilers in those elections. They tended to somewhat cancel out.

If the moveon.org crowd happens to mostly-nullify some new tea party movement, then it will be a crap-shoot about who happens to retain power after 2010 elections, though dems will lose at least somewhat.

If Tea-Party folk and independents hold their nose and vote republican just for some "change they can believe in" it will be a true democrat bloodbath. But since republicans are so dumb they haven't yet 'got it', I don't expect much significant improvement if that is what shakes out. It is probably an incremental improvement, because perhaps we would go back to the 'good old days' of only running a half-trillion deficit per year, compared to the current two-trillion deficit per year. Slower death is the only advantage.

Who decides when gramma or gramps or a disabled child is part of the waste in the system? A medical efficacy panel with authority over available treatments?

A lot of Zhumell stuff looks to be spookily similar to GSO gear if it is actually made by some other OEM.

I have the GSO version and it seems to work fine.

Even before the security mess started up around 2001, the modern airliner experience seemed to have become 'cattle cars with wings'. The extra security just makes it worse. I don't plan to fly any more. It will be a big deal necessity trip to get me to fly again on a passenger flight.
