Two MASS Shootings: Republicans Refuse To Be Interviewed

You may think it is logical, but as it turns out, crime statistics do *not* support this conclusion.

The FBI released a study that covered mass shooting from 2000 to 2013. A total of 160 events. Over half, 90, of the incidents ended on the shooter's initiative. Only 5 of the episodes ended due to a good guy with a gun, and of that five, only one involved a citizen with a valid concealed carry permit. The other four incidents involved armed security guards. So, 1 out of 160 for good guys with a gun. The unarmed civilians are doing infinitely better than that.

Read the report for yourself:

The distinction you are trying to draw is pointless. The study clearly shows that good guys with a gun are a fantasy. I seriously doubt that good guys with a gun have had any better track record in mass shootings; in fact, it's probably worse.

All of that ranting over a distinction that hardly matters, and you call me bizarre?

The El Paso shooter was an active shooter, yet he carried out a mass shooting. The Dayton Ohio shooter was as an active shooter, and he carried out a mass shooting. The terms are used almost interchangeably in the parlance of day-to-day discussions about these subjects. As I said, the distinction you are harping on is pointless. Numerous studies show that the good guy with a gun myth is just a fantasy, regardless of whether it be a strictly active shooter situation or a mass shooting. The ease of access to and ubiquity of guns make us less safe; not safer.

If I wanted to read something as crazy as that, I'd read another cockamanie post from Rich..

If only Denmark had unlawfully invaded Norway, or written him a large flowery letter, or was ruled by a dictator, or had actively meddled in our elections, then this could have all been smoothed over.

He definitely lives in an alternate reality as many latest Quinnipiac polls show:

Trump is racist black voters say 80 - 11 percent and Hispanic voters say 55 - 44 percent. Men say 55 - 41 percent that Trump is not racist. Women say 59 - 36 percent he is racist.

Vice President Joseph Biden ahead 53 - 40

Women back Biden 60 - 34
Men back Biden 47 - 46
White voters back Biden 47 - 46

Democrat leads 85 - 12 among black voters
Democrat leads 58 - 33 among Hispanic voters.
Democrat leads 58 - 28 among independent voters

37 - 58 percent for handling foreign policy;
39 - 53 percent for handling trade;
40 - 50 percent for handling the nation's policy toward China;
37 - 47 percent for handling the nation's policy toward Iran.

American voters say 57 - 28 percent that Donald Trump committed crimes
Voters say 51 - 38 percent that the Mueller Report did not clear President Trump of any wrongdoing
By 52 - 35 percent, voters trust the media more than Trump to tell the truth about important issues

PS His principle economics adviser, Peter Narravo, assures everyone that the bond yield curve didn't really invert so there was no reason for the market to drop. Must be great living in an alternate universe...

Job creation was off by 500,000 since 2018 than previously reported. The Bureau of Labor Statistics just released revised numbers. US Steel stock is at a 52 week low and dropped 50% of its value in just the last six months. US Steel is also having record layoffs. Farmers are declaring bankruptcy. Truckers say they can't make a living anymore. The deficit increases by record amounts every time the CBO looks at it. Why anyone is still supporting this pathological lying charlatan with decades of well documented fraud and failures can only be attributed to party loyalty.

I'm not elated. The point is that the polling data clearly shows that Trump lives in an alternate reality that does not exist. For example, his insistence that China is paying for the tariffs, when everyone knows that who's really paying for it are American consumers, farmers, truckers, etc.

Mel,

Do you think Trump is "dealing with it," or is he just doing more harm than good? There is a vast amount of evidence that the latter is right and not the former.

As far as Trump lying, that is entirely on him. He is the one that chooses to be a pathological liar who lies about everything,  no matter how inconsequential or how easy it is to fact check. If we point it out and hold him accountable, the onus is on him to change, his supporters to demand better and it's ridiculous to think that the rest of us will look the other way and ignore the staggering and self-evident lies he tells daily.

In my case, I could easily support someone like Kasich, for example. Even better George Conway. My party loyalty only runs as deep as Trump has to go.

There is no way I could ever vote for Trump, so I suppose the answer is yes. Although, I don't think it's a choice I will have to make since I really doubt Bernie will get the nomination.
