Refractor baffle placement

Posted By Tim Abbott

Hi Dave
The scope in question is a 4" f/7.
I'm looking at a triplet lens in cell as an alternative to buying a SW100ED. This would be my first refractor project and I'm excited about the build/final outcome. Here's a baffle pic that explains everything pretty much. I haven't done the math, but rather drew it up full scale. Easier IMO

Folded Refractor

Just a quick update for those interested...
Got it all painted - hammertone and white. Made rings and a dovetail. Car door edge trim on the ends of the tube. Added a budget finder. Looks more like a real scope now rather than a construction project. 8)

Building a 8" F/8 CHief

Posted By Tim Abbott

Got the base done and the CHief is ready to test. I'll play with the adjustment and try it out first before I tear it back down for final finishing, varnishing, etc.
