Thanks Tom, for posting the photos.

All I need to do now is show them to somebody who can *build* something and I'm good to go ... grin

Eyepiece cases for big ep's?

Posted By Louis Marchesi

My EPs are safe and sound in a Pelican (1520) with 'pick and pluck' foam.

The 2-inch EPs rest horizontally and the 1.25-inch EPs are stored vertically.

Help with USPS!

Posted By Louis Marchesi

Hi Rick,

Thanks for the explanation. I apologize for being a little slow on the uptake here ...

Are you saying that there is no difference in the "brokerage" fee if I ship Parcel Post versus Global Priority mail. If that's the case, then I don't understand the receiver's disappointment.

The declared value of the item is $200 (US). The receiver e-mailed me saying that it will cost $42 (I don't know which currency) to take delivery of the package, because I did not send it Parcel Post.

When the buyer asked if I would ship to Canada, I went on the USPS web site to get an idea of cost. Global Priority Mail was fairly quick and reasonably priced. Parcel Post was in the same ballpark pricewise, IIRC, but took a "month of Sundays" for delivery.

So I told the user that I could ship GPM. In his defense, he did say to ship "Parcel Post" but until yesterday, to me that was synonymous with "the Post Office" (versus UPS or FedEx).

with your significant other

My wife will participate in some astronomy ... I bought her the CD to learn the constellations with. She likes the occasional look through her binoculars. Lunar eclipses and meteor showers she likes too. She seems to have a difficult time seeing though the telescope, though, and very rarely takes a peek.

She does like "road trips" like the one we took to see the Transit of Venus last year. She's been to three star parties.

Two years ago at Cherry Springs, S&T editor Joshua Roth gave her a "Universe Sampler" through the StarBlast! he brought with him (sure, she'll look through *his* scope -- :S )

Is there a sight that gives visibility/position of the shuttle?

There are two excellent sites with shuttle info:

Another Blow to the Status of Pluto

Posted By Louis Marchesi

I thought that the definition of a planet was:

Any body directly orbiting the Sun with sufficient mass to allow it to hold a spherical shape.

Seems to me then that Pluto's status isn't diminished, but they've just found Planet X.

How long does it take to get a shirt? I recently renewed my sponsorship and supplies may have been depleted. At what point can I quit stalking the mail man?
