Orion Astroview 90 vs. 6” f/8 Newtonian

Posted By Bob Woish

Update... I shot some pics with the AstroView 90 last night, here they are or those of you who wonder what you can do with a small scope. Keep in mind I'm not the world's greatest astrophotographer!

Note the detail in Saturn's rings and polar region. I think this is pretty good for 90mm.

First Look: Orion's V-Block Filter

I tried one last year and found exactly what you did. I returned it, as it added no value to the view. Just yesterday I ordered the Baader Finge Killer. I am hoping for better results.

Jupiter' Big Blue Spot?

Posted By Bob Woish

I saw that, in fact I just logged on to ask WHAT IS THAT? Not only is there another spot adjacent to the red spot, but another HUGE one on the other side toward the east, which seems to be framed by two large festoons. The GRS and its new companion are just rotating into view on the western limb.

I shot this with a 90mm refractor so please excuse the little photo, this was at 12:58 AM EST, Feb 3, 2004.

Anybody know what these TWO extra spots are?

Meade redesigning LXD55 mount?

Posted By Bob Woish

Problems? Mine works fine, at least when properly aligned. What kind of problems should I keep an eye out for?

Instant Replay - Tonight's Double Transit

Well here's what I got. This is my Celestron G8 on LXD-55 mount, f/30, Philips ToUCam Pro, 170 frames. I can see the shadows, can somebody find Io and Europa?

Still practicing!

Hey Paul, how do you determine your f-ratio? I have a 3X barlow that I wonder about.
