Looks like a good scope for a good strong back.
As time takes its' toll the meaning of "small scope"
changes. It is all relative to the persons physical ability.
Give it a few more years and as every farmer soon learns,
the spirit may be willing but the reality is no one
keeps swinging grain sacks or scopes like he was a younger man.

Frank, I think more people read the Astromart classified ads than the forums.
I ran an ad for 35mm astro films a while back and found the mother lode.
Try posting a "wanted ad" in the classified maybe "miscell and other"
and see what comes up. You never know who went totally digital and still
has a freezer full of film.

But hey, some people worship the sun as god. How can anyone own god.
But like any other property it will revert back to the original owner
if you don't visit it once in a while.

The proof will be in the pics. Need to use the camera on your fs106 and shoot a few different objects and compare them to others pics taken with the Baader IR/UV filter. look at their unprocessed pics. At least it will answer your question I believe.

Dewed Telescope

I use a hair dryer at the end of a nights observing. Then turn on the heater strips. I never remove the heater strips just unplug them when using the scope. After use plug them back in and turn them on. I also use a permanant dedicated 5amp regulated power supply 24/7 365 days a year in my observatory. And never cap a dewed scope.
Cheap insurance for clean optics IMO.

Baffles vs Flocking?

If I were trying to reduce some weight I would keep the baffle nearest the diagonal and replace all the rest with flocking material. It's a short tube so, easy job. But how much are you REALLY going to save when you add the weight of the rolled .06" plastic. Maybe reduce the thickness to .032 would be better. I like Lexan® which is available in that thickness. But WDIK (what do I know). wait for a better answer.
