Advice for Second Scope

Hi Folks,
Thanks for all the GREAT responses. I have considered a mak-newt, but my G-11 is way back on my property and not really a quick look/second scope option. I'm not sure what I'll do yet, but you all have given me many different options. I may sell the C-14/G-11, take the money I got from the sale of my other scope, and bite the bullet and get a big dob.

I have a C-14/G-11 combo. I set my mount up facing E, do not turn the motors on, and put the scope on Polaris. I collimate off Polaris and center the star manually. Works fine for me.

I am a Christian and don't believe in organized religion. Religion is a man made concept. To me, it's all about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I do believe the bible is the infallible word of God and try to live my life by it. I fall short constantly and it's my relationship with Christ, repentance, and God's grace that redeems me...not religion. I think too many folks have been hurt/killed in the name of religion and that is opposite of what Christ taught.

I've noticed a lot of name calling here lately and feel that's not where we need to go in this forum. I'm going to keep it at a kind, mutually respectful, intelligent and fruitful level. We can learn much from each other.

It is indeed getting bloody here and I don't see why. This forum has turned into an us vs. them platform. If we all respect each others opinions and the right to those opinions, this can be a great medium in which to seek deeper to find the truth.

I think your comment in the second paragraph is unfair. A Church that follows the teaching of Christ can be a place to worship God and love your neighbor. Of course, churchs are made up of people and people are flawed. There's no way around that.
But, to single out churchs just seems to be an unwarranted slam and not useful dialog.

My wife bought me a Carson refractor for $7.00 at Tuesday Morning. It comes complete with alt az mount and two eyepieces. It is definitely an achromat smile
