Very nice. The pedestal on the EM200, is it custom made or a Tak product? Joe

Piggybacking on a Mewlon 250

Posted By joseph badal

Paul,if you have the scope mounted on the EM200 with the BRC rings/ socalastro rings or other, the TGM-2 with base plate, the AP Puck (Q4044), and the AP dove8 saddle, and 7 inch rail, gives a terrific Alt/az control (though heavy).I have also used casady plate for the Mewlon 250 and placed losmandy finder rings on the plate-not as slick as prior method. IC443 -- framing messed up

Very nice pinpoint stars. I thought a bit dark. With a little level and curves only, WOW is their great detail in this shot. Repost if you decide to further process (though nice the way it is). Joe

AP 9" Folded Apochromatic Refractor for sale on cl

Posted By joseph badal

Is this the same scope I recently saw for sale on Amart for $45K? If so, I wonder why price increase, if it did not sell at that price(maybe I'm confusing 2 different scopes). Joe

Warranty Question

Posted By joseph badal

I believe this is technically true, as is the case with most telescope manufacturers (i.e. Celestron, Meade). I personally have found that TNR has not questioned me on whether I was an "original" owner or not, they just did the necessary repairs. I think this brings up a very interesting notion, however, of transferability of warranty for astronomical equiptment. (I have tried to check my files on AP warranty, and I can not even find the warranty. I will check this out further). Joe

M11 last night

Hi Floyd. I should be the last person to give advice, and this is subjective, but with a little bit of processing, the image shows a lot of "untapped" detail. I took the liberty and processed the image in photoshop CS using Waid's online tutorial on "Star shaping and enhancement", with good results. Also I think the circular shaped 'haze' surrounding central field of image could be eliminated with a sky flat. BTW, the star coloration is quite impressive with you camera considering exposure time. El Capitan - AP3600 GTO

Posted By joseph badal

I think I like everything I've heard so far about this new mount , except, well, the name "El Capitan". I know it's not "Official" yet, but I think a name more in line with other AP mount names -Like "Mach I". I would suggest a competition for the naming of this new mount- and the prize winner would be first on the notification list. The name would need to imbue a sense of Mass,Awe,Heritage,Timelessness. FLI ML8300 an AMAZING lil cam Flame

Posted By joseph badal

Very nice!

Since you're one of a few people that has had 2 different 8300 chip cameras, how does the FLI vs Apogee compare or vary by features, etc.?

Thanks, Joe
