It does appear to be safe at this point for most in the short term. There are however many cases of adverse and serious reactions as well. Given I have already had covid and recovered nicely I am saying I am hesitant to take the vaccine which has not passed the large scale trials.....I prefer to take my chances with natural immunity. As I said, your concerns are valid, but in my humble opinion, overblown and misinformed.

I've read a lot about mRNA vaccines and their development. Scientists have been studying the potential application of mRNA vaccines for over 30 years now. The initial difficulty they were facing with them had nothing to do with whether or not they were potentially dangerous or not. Science, experience, and history tell us it has no long-term effects. Even messenger RNA is not a new term. Biologists have been using it for decades to describe what RNA does. All mRNA does, synthetic or natural, is tell your body what proteins to produce in your cells. It's something your body does every second of every day, and it's how all your biological systems work. There is nothing scary, or new, or novel about this process.

I get it. Some people think it fishy that we came up with a vaccine so quickly. But not only did vaccine development benefit from the mRNA research done in the past, but it's also amazing what scientists can do when they have a fire lit under their collective asses because there is a dangerous virus killing millions of people worldwide. On top of that, coronaviruses have been a target of lots of prior research because scientists knew they had a high potential for becoming a zoonotic virus. So, they already knew the spike protein was a potential target for vaccines. The SARS-COV 2002 pandemic was a precursor to now, and researchers have capitalized on work done then.

All of this came together at the perfect time to give us the mRNA vaccines we have today.
