Racism?

Trump is a racist and misogynist ass, and his latest rage tweets after watching Fox News are not just simple statements about ingratitude. Ingratitude for what? That three of them were born in the United States? That one of them is a naturalized citizen? That they are all duly elected representatives of Congress? If all he wanted to do was point out they were ungrateful then why highlight their race, or ethnicity or gender? Why trot out the oldest racist trope in America, by telling them to go back where they came from, never mind they are citizens and are from the US? It's ludicrous to make excuses for this behavior and even suggest he merely supposed they were ungrateful. Besides, who complains more than Donald Trump? The man complains about everything and anything. On top of that, complaining about our government seems to be one of the most American things we can do. The Constitution, after all, protects our free speech specifically.

I am 100% positive he would not have said that if they were white.

Besides, the language that Trump used is specifically spelled out in Federal Law as enforced by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission as discrimination and is illegal.

Examples of potentially unlawful conduct include insults, taunting, or ethnic epithets, such as making fun of a person’s foreign accent or comments like, "Go back to where you came from."

I can tell you this for sure, if anyone where I work said this to a person of color they would be fired.

The Tale Of Two Trump Voters

PS:The country was run into the ground for eight years? She must have been talking about the Bush years...

The POTUS is once again retweeting a UK tabloid columnist this morning named Kaite Hopkins. She has been embroiled in one racist scandal after another over the years. The UN Human Rights Chief denounced her because she wrote a column saying migrants were cockroaches, feral humans, and spreading like the norovirus. In the controversy that ensued, she said, "Call me racist, I don't care." I've said it before, Trump supporters may not think he's a racist, but the racists sure think he's a racist. Not to mention, Trump has no problem turning to racists for support. The only way Trump doesn't have a racist bone in his body is if he has no bones.

I may have to tune in tomorrow just to see what he has to say.smile

I want to point out that just because someone does not support Trump, it does not mean they are a leftist. It just means they don't support Trump. I know lots of conservatives, who held their nose and voted for Trump, who now regret that decision. They do not support Trump, yet they are still conservative. You guys seem to forget that the Republicans tried like hell to jettison Trump before he won the nomination. There were lots of never-Trump Republicans who opposed him, and many still do. Are they all liberal communist traitors?

3. Some people were not fond of Trump, and are even now detractors.
4. There are never-Trumpers.

Assuming categories one and four do not have enough people to decide the election one way or the other; it's the people in groups two and three who will determine the election. So, is Trump driving category two away and worsening his reputation with class three, with all of his recent twitter tirades, or is he doing the opposite? Depends on who you ask. However, it's hard for me to imagine that he is making his position better. In other words, is he persuading reluctant supporters and improving his standing with detractors? Seems hard to believe that he is for me anyway.

Jim

Yes, the Democrats get a say in influencing groups 2 and three as well. All I can say is Trump supporters better hope the economy doesn't take a downturn because that is the only thing keeping him afloat with even a 42% approval rating. Without that safety blanket, he's toast.

The Russian Government?

Mel,

This unfounded claim is just another right-wing talking point whose only purpose is to discredit the Mueller report. There is overwhelming evidence that the Internet Research Agency (IRA) was involved in illegal interference in the 2016 presidential election. A DC grand jury indicted 13 different individuals, all Russian citizens, who work for the IRA in February of 2018. Do you think a DC grand jury indicted them because there is no evidence? Come on, man, what next? Is your team going to start claiming that Hillary colluded with Russia to defeat herself? Wait too late. Fox News and Sean Hannity have already floated that sound-bite.

It's not a theory at this point. The evidence that this is the case is quite overwhelming. I don't believe the IRA influence campaign started with the sole purpose of helping Trump. However, once it became clear that Trump viewed Putin favorably and that many of his policy proposals dovetailed with Russian propaganda, then the IRA went all-in on helping Trump. It's all detailed in gory detail, in Volume I of the Mueller report. Read it; you may just be surprised.

If we can't agree on basic facts like the Russian government carried out a broad and sustained influence campaign before, during, and after the 2016 election, then there is probably not much to discuss. However, just this last Thursday a report from the Senate Intelligence committee reaffirmed what the Mueller report already says and concluded that significant vulnerabilities remain. I will remind you that the Senate is Republican-controlled and the Senate Intelligence committee consists of seven Republicans and 6 Democrats. The chairman is Richard Burr a Republican and the vice Chairman is Mark Warner a Democrat. It is a bi-partisan committee and a bi-partisan report by any measure.
