Kamala is everything Trump is not. Intelligent. Ethical. Knowledgable. Eloquent. Composed. Compassionate. Adult. Sane. I would vote for her, but can she beat Trump? I promise you this; there is no way she would tolerate Trump's misogynist debate stalking.

Have you heard about Eric Trump being spit on by a waitress? When asked about it, the waitress said, "It couldn't have happened; he's not my type."

By the way, no one should be spitting on anyone and kudos to Eric for taking the high road.

We've Evolved! It's Now: " Keep America Great"!

Do you realize the magnitude of the difference? We WERE "Make America Great Again" but NOW we're at the next evolution with mission accomplished on making America great again and now that it's already happened, we have our sacred obligation to keep it there by re-electing Donald John Trump!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

Typical Trump. They are declaring victory too early. He still has a lot of work to do before his old while male supporters will genuinely feel like they are in control again, and everyone else knows their place. There are still Muslims to ban, brown people, to separate from their children and to lock up without access to basic sanitation, cheap tramps who were asking for it to denigrate, tariffs to instigate and make us all rich, tyrants and strong-men to cozy up too, and so forth and so on. There is still a lot of work to do, to truly make America great again.

I seem to remember a lot of you guys criticizing Obama about his use of a teleprompter. But it's OK when Trump does it. Hypocrites.

It wasn't just a gaffe or a faux pas. It was insanely bizarre, and at the same time not surprising since Trump constantly just makes stuff up as he goes along and doesn't care at all about being honest or factual.

I guarantee you this though, if Obama's teleprompter has done out, there is no way the result would have been that level of ineptness.

"I've always said, if you run for president, you shouldn't be allowed to use teleprompters. Because you don't even know if the guy is smart."

Why does @BarackObama always have to rely on teleprompters?

Regardless of why you think the Trump administration wanted this question on the census, the truth is they handled the whole thing ineptly, and they deserve any derision they get regarding their handling of this

First, the supreme court rejects its rationale for the question as being contrived.

Second, the current legal team failed to provide an alternate rationale and even admitted when the court challenged them that they didn't know what their client, President Trump, wanted.

Lastly, the Justice Department tried to swap out the current legal team, but the judge told them they couldn't because they didn't provide satisfactory reasons for the substitution.

The funny thing about this last-minute legal team substitution is that the original team specializes in the subject they were arguing for, but Trump's direction and rationale are so inept and jumbled, not even they could make sense of it. The team that was to replace them was a random assortment of sorts, so it doesn't make sense to replace the original group with them unless the first team had lost credibility with the administration or they were simply unwilling to sign-up for the inevitable continuing fiasco. In either case, it doesn't reflect well on how the Trump administration has been handling the case. At this point, they might as well admit that the real reason for the question was a naked political power grab, as we have all suspected all along, and which Trump unhelpfully made clear last week when he admitted the reason for the question was for redistricting.

If you care about a fair and representative democracy, and I assume you do, then you should care about an accurate census. There is little doubt that such a question would lower incentive to participate in the poll and that it would lead to an inaccurate count that favors Republicans. At least that's what GOP redistricting strategist Thomas Hoeffler thought and communicated to others in his party before his death in 2018. He also predicted that adding such a question would lead to high resistance from the other side and that the Supreme Court would not likely uphold a mandate for the addition of such a citizenship question. He was, of course, eerily prescient. However, Republican strategists decided to proceed anyway, so as far as I'm concerned, any criticism or ridicule they are receiving for what is a naked political power grab, they deserve.

Indeed. It was a stupid idea, to begin with, and even the now dead architect of the original notion predicted it would be dead on arrival. His executive order after admitting defeat is entirely laughable as well. He could have issued that executive order before the failure, and it's not clear the executive order effectively accomplishes anything since it merely reiterates plans the Commerce Department announced last year. It appears the executive order is little more than a thin cover for his retreat.

The Dems think it is better for them if the number of citizens is never more clear then it is now. Why did Obama remove this question? The movers and shakers of the party want more people to come across the border. Not fewer. More poor means more Dems and in CA ultimately more votes.
Would the Dem Party be better off if everybody in this country was self reliant?

Claims That Obama ‘Yanked’ Citizenship Question From Census Are False

No, Obama didn’t remove the citizenship question from the census

Citizenship, the Census and Obama

Memes circulating online claim that former President Barack Obama removed the citizenship question from the 2010 census. He didn’t. The citizenship question in 2010 was handled the same way it had been since 1970.

One other point on this.  Some in the media have been suggesting — in the hysterical mode of the day — that the Administration has been planning to add the citizenship question to the census by executive fiat without regard for contrary court orders or what the Supreme Court might say.  This has been based on rank speculation and nothing more.  As should be obvious, that was never under consideration.  We have always accepted that a new decision to add a citizenship question to the census would be subject to judicial review.

The funny thing is, of course, that Barr claims that media was being hysterical when in truth, all they were doing was reporting what Trump was saying he was going to do. Trump said repeatedly he was going to get the question on the census and had a path forward despite the Supreme Court ruling.

Bill Barr said in his statement about the citizenship question that they have always accepted that a new decision would require further judicial review. It's a laughable statement given that publicly Trump has been signaling anything other than acceptance, but Bill Barr, despite his apparent acts of loyalty to team Trump rather than dedication to professional responsibility, realizes that they lost and that there is no path to getting the question on the 2020 census. In other words, Barr has stopped Trump.
