I like the C-5 / DSLR combo. 1250mm f/10 or 788mm f/6.3 good color and resolution. I think for birding it's hard to beat at any price. I'm still waiting on a tripod bracket I ordered from Celestron.

Ditto Tyler, I see these birds every time I'm out to my favorite spot, but I have never seen their feet. The Coots and the Auks they hang out with are very timid around me. It looks like this one didn't mind you. Superb shot.
