Forum history

Without some really-big political news our little forum won't survive. Peeing Russian prostitutes just isn't enough any more. Dave Snopes was also a no nonsense conservative. My favorite from the past was  Lee, something Lee, Lee something. A programmer from a southern state with a cutting wit. Sometimes he talked of his battle with his weight, pancake houses and other fun stuff.

Yep, but he did manage to have that dispute with NPR.
His son is building a career as a conservative! Bet they don't talk politics at the dinner table.

White Supremacy opponents gone wild

Posted By Mel Maki

Hi Gerald,

Rich is real and I have enjoyed talking to him. He is certainly a quick way to hear a bunch of the other side of an issue you might take. I am unhappy that Trump has even fewer political skills than I feared but have retreated to the position that I care more what Trump does than what he says.

There is some straight news on Foxnews. What choice is there at 2pm Pacific? Special Report with Brit Baier is a good news program.

God help us. How did we get to the point of ignoring our core values? What happened to our decency and morality? How can anyone look up to such a person or excuse his conduct? It has me truly baffled.

I voted for Reagan. He must be turning over in his grave.
...not good for the country..." Trump voters mainly considered how good Hillary would be for the country.
A director of the ACLU said Trump was bringing this up as, "...an attempt to sow division and fan the flames of anti-immigrant hatred..." The talking point is that people now fear the immigrants, that Trump has made people afraid. No, but I do think illegals should not have this birthright advantage and more people are considering this because of Trump.

Amazing.  And some, who place bets on both sides about equally. You can also see how the money is spent, either for or against a candidate. Although I have not an analysis, it looks like most of the money is used against candidates, rather than for them (because negative ads work).

Two entities, controlled by one man, contributed more than $88 million dollars to the Republican cause.
That's more than ten percent of the TOTAL amount contributed to Republicans. You think they don't return his calls or give him special treatment?

Another single entity controlled by one man contributed about $42 million to Democratic causes or candidates-around five percent.

So much for one man, one vote.

Today, I wonder what Rogers would say. Probably something like "We want a refund because the rest of us didn't get what they richest people paid for."
A few years ago I was given pointers on the constitution when I said our elections would be much better if we eliminated political ads on tv. Most of the money goes to those ads. It would make a huge difference.

So do you think he'll pull it out or is lyin Ted going to be another downed Tea Partier?
How many Hispanics will vote for Cruz? A third? I'm too lazy to look it up. Anybody?

Just looked it up. I found one poll that said a little over a third.

The politician that buys the most tv wins, usually.
On the other hand, this would not cause people to suddenly start reading.

I wonder if our 100% mail in/drop off system affects turnout one way or the other.  I would think it would have to bump up overall turnout, but it might not do so evenly across all demographics.  Our young adult kids had to come back to the homestead for example to get their ballots - it's nice to see them though.
