I'll just leave this here....

No it is not suprising, if we raised funds to pay for it by the tune of 975 instead of 875 billion, it would reduce the deficit 218 instead of 118. 3 things to do with the debt/deficit
1. Do the resposible thing, tighten the belt and pay things down(not happening here)
2. Default on it(would destroy us, not happening again)
3. Devalue it by printing money.........

Any other options.......

Just read it!
Tax
Individual Penalties(a tax if you will)
Corporate Penalties (another tax)
Health Industry Fees
Cut tax breaks(some may just call it a tax)

Where are the savings from tort reform, malpractice reform, competitive reforms smile

A big, bad system, on the verge of expansion........... :S

Common Sense Words from 2 Republicans

Posted By Michael Koons

Wow, insightful and unfortunately for conservatives....true. Now that each and every Republican, has voted against this, where do conservatives go to find constructive, coalition building. I still think the majority of people in this country are conservative, but we need a voice, and a party....... sad

Obama walks off stage

Barbara Boxer must have been seething. With the her re-election bid in the balance showing the worst poll numbers she's ever had, Obama totally screws up her campaign fundraiser speech. First, in a 6-1/2 minute speech, he talks three minutes about himself, gets three minutes of heckling, and even walks away from the podium in a clear demonstration of lack of control. Barbara only gets about 30 seconds of exposure out of all this. The crowd is clearly upset over what Obama does best: passing the buck.

David,

(Caution: this video is graphic in nature may be upsetting to some supporters of Obama: parental discretion is advised.)

I watched the link, the only reference to himself was being happy to be in CA, happier to see Barbara and he signed a new START treaty. 20-25 seconds in total at the most. I see 2-3 minutes of praise for Boxer. He leaves the podium specifically to ask Boxer if she voted for "Don't ask Don't tell" and returns immediately to tell them this fact. Could you post the link to the video you referred to?
Thanks
Mike

Is there still a place for moderates amongst the R

Posted By Michael Koons

Paul I don't think so. Back to the deadly sins, sloth and greed. When times were great our elected officials mostly out of Christian Charity IMHO chose to use the power of government to levy taxes and help people. Soon over a course of years the number of people at least somewhat reliant on the government for handouts or jobs became too great. So now we are at a place where moderates, who see the plight and need of some are caught in the crossfire between those who feel entitled now "left" and those who see the inexorable demise of our nation and wish to turn the clock back which they cannot "right". Anything constructive is demonized because it does not return us to the past and so further alienates those who are moderate. And so the R's will split and fragment leaving a smaller but more vocal minority. Too bad. I think it will be 8-12 years before they realize hope and vision is a better option to fear and pessimism. The disparity of income and source of income has created too wide a chasm and that is where the votes lie largely. It also may be too late. sad

al-Awlaki: Calls for the killing of Americans

You know, I agree 100%, but perhaps it would make us all feel better if someone could strip citizenship..... but that opens a rather large can of worms. Burning the flag has led to some interesting consequences..........
