Hello Guys,

I would to make a clarification of my background. I think many of you are thinking that I chose Catholicism because it is the only religion I am exposed to.. Well I have a rather complicated background.

My grandfather is a Taoist. He even has a Taoist temple on the top floor of our house. And I mean a real temple where people go and worship. My grandfather is what you would call a Taoist "medium". My grandma is a Buddist. My dad is a Taoist. I got my Catholicism from my mom. Athough she is more of a cultural Catholic than a fervent one.

Some members of my family weren't really very happy with my embrace on Catholicism. Most especially my grandparents. Oh yeah, we used to live under one roof. In fact, they would rather that I study astrology rather than Physics... grin

Hello Guys,

I don't think you guys got my point. What I am asking here is WHAT ALTERNATIVE SOLUTIONS DOES ATHEISM HAVE ON THE PROBLEMS OF HUMAN NATURE?

This topic has degraded to attacks on religion and on how religion failed. Yet NO ONE has posted on WHAT VIABLE ALTERNATIVE DOES ATHEISM OFFER?

We talk about warfare and yes, human life is warfare. Whether it is nations at war, groups at war with others, cultures clashing against others, business rivalries, political rivalries, family rivalries, etc. I can go on and on and on! In what SPECIFIC ways can atheism do away with these problems?

Hello Daryl,

I'll check out this book. Past interesting books that I have read is Brocka's Brain and the Dragon on Eden by Carl Sagan... These books were partially responsible for making me an atheist. Very interesting books but then again I never found God by using science. I have read some books that claim to have discovered God using Astronomy but I am not, even until now, convinced of their arguments...

Hello Bill,

Ever since Fox came out with that stupid Apollo hoax documentary, this has always been a topic whenever we have a public star party. It is very frustrating to talk to people who will just say, "Hey, you have to have an open mind." Or that "You must be part of the conspiracy" (But I wouldn't mind getting a $1M..)! No amount of explanation will get you through. Their logic is that, if it came out of National TV or if it is published in a book then it must be true...
