That could be.  But at least here in virginia when I voted absentee in previous years it had to be mailed in advance of election day or I had to vote in person.

3.  Some (about 40%) mail the ballot back - you are strongly encouraged to do this at least a week in advance.
4.  Most return the ballot to secure drop-off boxes that are nearly everywhere.
5.  A few still vote their ballot at a polling place.  Serious procrastinators I guess.  This is less than 1%
6.  Status emails are sent regularly (Your ballot is in the mail, Your ballot has been received back, Your ballot has been accepted etc.)
7.  The counties and precincts canvass the signed envelopes as they come in, I'm not sure if they count the ballots all along, but we always have the results a few hours after the polls close.

Easy peasy.  The simplicity of our system is why Colorado has a nation leading 89% turnout among registered voters.   Of course, making it easy to vote makes it easy for occasional voters, millennials and the like to actually vote.  I suppose this in part explains the rapid switch of Colorado from a swing state in 2012 to a reliably blue state in 2020.  But is anyone going to argue that this is a bad thing?  The republicans need to adapt to the new voter demographics or die.  I think that the 2020 vote in the House and statehouses suggests that the Rs are adapting, although maybe too slowly.  We'll see in 2024.

Jim,

I have mixed feelings about proactively mailing a ballot to everyone.  It would be nice to see some actual effort put forth by voters but I guess that is asking too much.  As long as the security of the process can be maintained I dontr have a big problem with it.  I just don't think in a post pandemic world we can continue to accept ballots after election day, which has been the case in several states.

I guess I'm not following your news outlets or something but at the moment, even NBC says Biden is at 253.

AZ is still in play and Michigan looks like there are real problems.

Explain to me how VOTING SOFTWARE awards votes to Biden when they actually went for Trump?

Biden is up by 15k in PA, 3k in GA, 40k in AZ, and 20k in Nevada.  All with really high vote percentages.  The fat lady is warming up her vocal chords as we speak.

I'd just like to know when exactly did Biden win those states?

It is 2:21 MST on Friday.

Can you, Jim Brown, or James Lacey tell me what time Biden was declared the winner?

I'm curious,  when did Biden win the Presidency?
Biden hasn't won yet officially and Trump shouldn't officially concede.  But as soon as Nevada and Arizona are called Trump should gracefully bow out.  Those two states makes PA and GA meaningless.  If there's fraud the people should be prosecuted.

Honestly, Jim, I actually wonder about you in terms of how little damage you think Trump is doing and is capable of.

We'll be fine.  He'll be gone soon even if he throws a tantrum, and his presidency will be remembered as one that shrunk of the face a national challenge.

This was no landslide and he has no mandate.  He won because he wasn't Trump.  If he tries to govern like he had a mandate he'll find himself facing large Republican majorities in congress in a couple of years.

"Democratic candidate in runoff race says he's confident Georgia will solidify "its status as a blue state" From CNN's Leinz Vales"

“There is no question that Georgia is well on its way to solidifying its status as a blue state,” Warnock told CNN’s Erin Burnett. “We’ve been working on this for years. The other side knows it. That’s why they’ve been engaged for voter suppression for so long. We saw record voter turnout. 1.8 million Democrats showed up and showed out more than ever and we saw it again in this election. And I think our side is going to be very energized to show up for the January 5th.”
I'll keep Sherman on the sidelines for now ready with a quick reaction force...
I'm a little peeved the Dems are stealing the credit for this election in Georgia.

Trump is responsible for turning GA blue!  Give credit where credit is due!

Not sure I agree with his last sentence about the filibuster and the senate, bit I'll gladly accept his opinion on this scenario.
