He will probably avoid jail. He waved a very amateur report about voting machines claiming it will win the election for him. It is more difficult to convict him if he really believes a report on voting machines can bring him victory.Originally Posted by James Lacey

Regardless, a helpful thought experiment is, let's say, a husband hires a killer to kill his wife and that, unfortunately, the hitman is successful. Still, afterward, the husband claims it was all just a misunderstanding. Is he guiltless? Of course, he is not. In fact, by law, the husband is more guilty than the hitman. While this analogy is not perfect, it's pretty close to what Trump did.
We now know that amid the violence of the 1/6 riot, Trump expressed support for hanging Pence, not to mention he did nothing to stop the violence until hours after it began. Of course, you will say, "Voicing support for violence is something Trump did many times!" You may even suggest he was only joking. In return, I would say, the support for hanging Pence came during the Trump-stoked attack, and it is one he did little to stop. Jan. 6th resulted from a long history of disgusting lies and rhetoric from Trump that completely contradicts his Constitutional responsibilities. I do not doubt that he will somehow escape indictment and prosecution. Still, as far as myself and many other Americans are concerned, Trump will always be a fascist traitor who cares for nothing else than himself and his ego.

They found one Republican, or as you say "a Republican"? I thought you said you were watching the hearings.
EVERYONE WHO HAS TESTIFIED SO FAR in the open hearings have BEEN REPUBLICAN! EVERY ONE! Not everyone below has testified in the live hearings, yet, but they are scheduled.
Please point out the democrats in the list. Trump appointed most of these folks, did he made mistakes choosing them? I thought he would only appoint the best people.

Jim, you are acting like one big partisan blockhead! I have ZERO invested in "the big lie." Do you think the world revolves around this crap the two parties argue about instead doing anything constructive? The parties move you guys around like they have rings in your noses. This is one big tv production of endless bull and you guys can't get enough of it. Your only disappointment is you don't have a big screen in every room. Oh, but I almost forgot that Trump was one whisker away from destroying the very essence of our Democracy and only a brilliant Dem in the right places stopped us from having 8 more years of Trump.Originally Posted by Jim Moscheck

At the time the big lie and the capital riots still were too fresh and in some minds still plausible, but now after all these witnesses, 60+ big lie court cases dismissed, and Trump and his cronies discredited the country may be coming around.
But certainly not Mel, Greg, and Rich as they have too much invested in the big lie to somehow see the evidence presented for what it is, not their preconceived ideas of what (on edit) they think it is.

So now it is Pence that saved our democracy? Our constitution prevents losing presidents from installing themselves. I said you were a blockhead because you said I have too much invested in this "big lie." That is bs so look in YOUR mirror and maybe you will be able to realize what a bunch of nonsense these Dems have you caught up in.Originally Posted by Jim Moscheck
No, a republican sycophant named mike pence finally grew a backbone on January 6th and wouldn’t go along with the big lie put forth by Eastman, Rudy, and Trump and company. You want to see a partisan blockhead? Look in the mirror.

A coup? With no guns?Originally Posted by Rod Kaufman

But that didn't prevent Trump from attempting a coup, now did it? Nor did it prevent Trump from pressuring Pence to refuse to certify the electoral votes, now did it? Nor did it prevent a bunch of Republican congressmen from voting to refuse certification of the election, now did it?

It is against the law to have guns there. The group from Gun Safety identified "12...allegedly tied to the events." Were they convicted as being tied to the event?Originally Posted by Rod Kaufman
Various rioters had guns and that's already been established. However, "A tweet, which has received thousands of engagements since it was posted on June 11, 2022, shows a clip from Tucker Carlson Tonight in which Carlson says the events of Jan. 6 did not amount to an insurrection because none of the protesters were carrying guns." "However, not only is there substantial and clear evidence that there were protesters with guns, it's also not clear why Carlson and other commentators believe that guns are a defining character of an insurrection."
"Let's start with the gun charges:
In April, 72-year-old Lonnie Coffman of Falkville, Alabama, was sentenced to four years in prison for bringing loaded guns, ammunition and Molotov cocktail ingredients to Washington on Jan. 6."
"In March 2022, 49-year-old Texan Guy Reffitt, was convicted (among other charges) for being unlawfully present on Capitol grounds while possessing a firearm and transporting firearms during civil disorder."
"A Department of Justice indictment from January 2021 also states that Christopher Alberts, Maryland, was found carrying a Taurus G2C semi-automatic handgun on Capitol grounds on January 6."
"Off-duty Drug Enforcement Administration agent Mark Sami Ibrahim, 32, was also indicted by a grand jury for bringing a firearm within the United States Capitol and its grounds."
"In an article for Newsweek, Nick Suplina and Justin Wagner of Everytown for Gun Safety said they had identified "12 individuals allegedly tied to the events of Jan. 6 who were arrested in Washington, D.C., and charged with firearms offenses."
Then read the rest of the recent Newsweek article detailing the issue(S)

I can continue to say Trump is whacked but nothing penetrates your thick skull. I have not voted for Trump and never would. You should consider that this problem of yours will get worse as you age. Take a hike!Originally Posted by Jim MoscheckYeah, no one is paying attention to these hearings.
"The special congressional committee investigating the Capitol attack held its third round of public hearings last week, spotlighting the intense pressure Vice President Mike Pence received from Trump to overturn the 2020 election results.
A majority of those surveyed – 60% – say they believe the Jan. 6 committee is "conducting a fair and impartial investigation," up from 40% in April."

They've only had three hearings so far and now "nearly 6 in 10 Americans say Trump should be criminally charged for his role in Jan. 6 riot, ABC poll says."
But no big deal, it was just a peaceful tourist outing by a bunch of patriots, right Mel? Your boy Trump said this weekend he'll even pardon anyone involved in Jan. 6th. if he gets re elected president. Surely they'll need those pardons because they are innocent, right Mel?
