message not showing in Inbox

Posted By Steve Sands

Andrea,

When someone responds to your ad, it sends an email to you. This happens when they select the "Respond to this ad" at the top of ad. Copies of this
message are not sent to your AstroMart inbox.

The AstroMart messaging system is entirely different. That is for sending private messages to a person via the AstroMart website. If you go to a person's profile, you will see the option to "Send private message to this user". That is when it will show up in your AM inbox (and NOT your email). When this occurs, you will see, in red, on the left side of your screen a message that states you have unread messages in your inbox.

I just sent you a private message, so you will see the message in red on the left hand portion of the screen. You also have a test message in your AM in box.

Don't Deal with Art Horn

Posted By Steve Sands

I had the exact same experience with a $35 transaction. Excuse after excuse after excuse. Lie after lie after lie. I finally requested a refund through PayPal and he granted it, but what a P.I.T.A. All over a $35 deal for a dozen magazines! I have all of his chain-of-lies emails and haven't rated him yet, but I should just to save others from the misery. 8O

Celestron Nexstar Handbox mount

Posted By Steve Sands

Hi Tom,

I purchased one of these for my Nexstar 8SE. They are made and sold by JMI in Colorado. They sell several accessories for these scopes.

Any experience with Parks telescopes?

Posted By Steve Sands

I just ordered and received some items I needed for a Cave restoration I am performing. They very quickly shipped a pair of 6" 1.5" bore aluminum setting circles and an awesome 1.25" all metal focuser just like the ones on the old Caves.

They responded to my emails very quickly and someone answered the phone and followed up immediately with answers to my questions when I called them.

They are apparently a "subsidiary" of Lumicon now and are selling current stock. Their website still carries fiberglass tubes and a multitude of telescope making components. It kinda brought back memories of the old days when I was perusing their website! Their telescopes are still listed for sale, also.

Where to order threaded inserts

Posted By Steve Sands

I submitted an inquiry to McMaster-Carr regarding shipments to Canada. This is their response and explains your situation:

"Due to the complexity of U.S. export regulations, McMaster-Carr accepts international orders only from businesses. This decision also applies to orders shipping within the United States, because it is based on the final destination of the items. We cannot accept international orders that are for personal use."

Where to order threaded inserts

Posted By Steve Sands

You might try Dave Kriege at Obsession Telescopes. He sells some components for telescope making: http://obsessiontelescopes.com/ATM_parts/index.php If the inserts listed on this link are what you are looking for, they are $3 each. You would have to check with Dave regarding shipping costs, but he has always been reasonable when I have ordered stuff from him.
