Rod, home defense is just the standard reply, that's all. People generally use pistols for self-defense.Originally Posted by Rod Kaufman
Oh I understand now. I thought I read somewhere that the intent of the .223 caliber bullet was to wound and not actually kill so it supposedly ties up more soldiers trying to move their wounded comrade but I must have read that in some other forum.(Of course, in the Russian front with Ukraine, Russian officers reportedly kill their wounded to solve that problem.) I was wondering why AR15 purchasers who listed their reason for buying them as being for "home defense" after reading somewhere that the round wounds instead of kills and perhaps they were just being kind and responsible gun owners who value human life if they have to "clear their apartment" of an alleged assailant, particularly if they were armed...

We can find every opinion in the world on guns. It takes a little general knowledge to sort through it and I don't know how effective a safety round would be in 556. I have not seen one. They do make 556 in several "barricade rounds." They are bonded or designed to better go through a windshield or plywood.Originally Posted by Rod Kaufman
Well, that was the reason given by the gun instructor/ seller of the AR15 in a linked video. I was questioning that in an earlier post since he stated he would use the AR15 as his weapon of choice to "clear his apartment" of assailants. I'd be concerned more about the .223 caliber rounds flying through the drywall and into a neighbor's apartment. I thought that was the purpose of using a Glasser defense round and equivalent. But apparently, according the gun instructor/seller the AR15 is his choice for "apartment defense"...

I'll say it. I have no respect for your opinion. Especially on guns. We would do fine to ignore each other!Originally Posted by Rod Kaufman

Wait, isn't there an equal chance that whatever legislation is approved this time will be enough? Not a chance? Why do they want to punish us honest gun owners? We should make an effort to hide the shooter's names and see if it helps. If people want to eliminate guns and that is the goal of many, they would be opposed to any law we could claim fixed the problem. They are sure it cannot be fixed until guns are gone.Originally Posted by Richard Davis
So very true. They seem to be unable to grasp that simple concept.
400 deaths per year by the AR-15, with the rest by other means, mainly handguns. So they're wringing their hands over the gun that is involved in about 1 percent of all gun deaths in the nation.
Of course, this is all just a prelude to what is coming next, outlawing all semi-automatic weapons altogether, and then we're left with 6 shooter revolvers or 9 shot .22 revolvers.
Wait a minute......... I forgot........ NOBODY wants to take our guns. I think Lacey just got that tattooed on his forehead recently.
I just put a 6 shooter on layaway, so I'm starting to worry that pretty soon, one of my guns is going to get itchy and decide to jump off the table, and do whatever these rogue guns do all by themselves.
Sure hope that doesn't happen. Maybe my new gun will shot the old gun before it can get out the door!
