Angle on a roll...

Posted By Mike Strieber

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/thefix/senate/sharron-angle-raised-14-millio.html
Sharron Angle raised $14 million in 3rd quarter

"Sharron Angle produced one of the most successful single quarters of fundraising in the nation's history for a U.S. Senate campaign..."

Angle is also up in just about every poll from 3-6%. I think it's more of a reflection of how bad Harry Reid is than an indication of how good Angle is. She is certainly riding a wave right now, at a very good time since they'll debate on Thursday night. The consensus is that the expectations for her are so low on Thursday she just needs to not say anything outlandish and she'll win the debate. Knowing Angle that will be difficult.

Tax Cuts

Posted By Mike Strieber

You know, I'm all for tax cuts but I have yet to see a Republican suggest how they will be paid for. Carly Finoria looked absolutely silly on Fox News Sunday when Chris Wallace asked her 7 times what entitlement programs she would cut to pay for the tax cuts. She never answered the question, in fact accused Wallace of asking a "political question". Certainly a sad moment for Carly. I'm a Republican, and will vote Republican, but I have to say they are being a little hypocritical on this. "Pay as you go" expired under Bush and he abused the hell out of it. I have little faith this presumed Republican "avalanche" in November will result in any changes in Washington. No politicians have the balls to cut entitlements; they're politicians for a reason...and their goal is to get elected or reelected. Seniors are a huge and consistent voting bloc, precisely why most of our entitlement programs are geared towards them. Electing a few "radicals" this election cycle who want to privatize social security or do away with Medicare will do nothing. There will never be enough of those types in Washington to affect change on these issues.

And I don't buy this lowering taxes increases revenue bs. If that was the case Bush would have left office with a surplus; or Reagan wouldn't have cut taxes, realized he cut them too much and raised taxes. Sure, it might raise revenue but it certainly doesn't offset the cost of entitlement programs. I'm no economist but I have to believe some folks are blowing a lot of smoke up my skirt.

Somebody tell me how extending the tax cuts will be paid for; because no Republican in the House or Senate can tell me.

"Obama the snob"
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/10/18/AR2010101803778.html

"Part of the reason that our politics seems so tough right now," he [Obama] recently told a group of Democratic donors in Massachusetts, "and facts and science and argument [do] not seem to be winning the day all the time is because we're hard-wired not to always think clearly when we're scared. And the country is scared."

"Obama clearly believes that his brand of politics represents "facts and science and argument." His opponents, in disturbing contrast, are using the more fearful, primitive portion of their brains."

"Obama views himself as the neocortical leader -- the defender, not just of the stimulus package and health-care reform but also of cognitive reasoning. His critics rely on their lizard brains -- the location of reptilian ritual and aggression."

"Some, presumably Democrats, rise above their evolutionary hard-wiring in times of social stress; others, sadly, do not."

"Interpreting Obama does not require psychoanalysis or the reading of mystic Chicago runes. He is an intellectual snob."

The article not only describes Obama perfectly, but liberals in general. This same attitude was prevalent in this very forum...back in the days when liberals weren't too embarrassed to post here that is.

Juan Williams

Posted By Mike Strieber

If you haven't heard, Juan Williams was fired by NPR for some remarks he made about Muslims on O'Reilly. It's a shame as Juan is pretty much the only liberal I like. wink It's good to see the vast majority of people are coming to his defense. I especially like how NPR is being exposed for what it is, a taxpayer funded liberal megaphone. Even "The View" folks are speaking out against NPR now, omg, what's this world coming to! NPR Senior Executive's only regret? This is happening during their fund raising week. I have to believe their support will drop tremendously.

"Government Doesn't Suck March"

Posted By Mike Strieber

'Government Doesn't Suck' march planned
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/federal-eye/2010/10/government_doesnt_suck_march_p.html

"We hear it day in and day out: the government sucks, federal employees are lazy and their positions are redundant," said march organizer Steve Ressler..."

Then he goes on to say...
"Government workers "are a lot of cool cats" who work hard, listen to good music and watch Stewart's "The Daily Show..."

Good for them! However, it does remind of this video that went around a couple years ago paying homage to government employees.

Must be some Tea Party folks crashed the Stewart/Colbert rally because we all know liberals would never do such a thing. Nor would they ever dare play the "fear" card...that's so the domain of the right. Just ask them.

O'Donnell v. Greene

Posted By Mike Strieber

What is that narrative forced on us from the left about the intelligence level of Tea Party folks and the candidates they support? I find this most telling...

About 123,000 Tea Partiers voted for O'Donnell.
Over 325,000 Democrats voted for Greene in SC.

Yeah, I get the population is larger in SC, but still....325,000 Democrats picked Greene. What does that say about the inteligence level of those two groups, if anything? O'Donnell was a horrible candidate with no business in Washington. As bad as she is, she is vastly more qualified than Greene. Some of you may recall Greene's plan to fix the economy was to have the government make G.I Joe-like action figures of himself and sell them...

I can only assume over 325,000 Democrats thought that was a good plan; at least that Greene was a good choice to represent them in Washington. I'd like to hear someone make the argument Greene was more qualified than O'Donnell to serve.

Bachmann v. Matthews

Bachmann To MSNBC's Matthews: That Thrill Isn't Tingly Anymore
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2010/11/02/bachmann_to_msnbcs_matthews_that_thrill_isnt_tingly_anymore.html

This is great. What is more fun to watch is once they cut away from Bachmann and the MSNBC panel (Matthews, Olbermann, Maddow) seems to be flabergasted that someone might suggest they're "in the tank" for Obama and the Democrats. Listen to Maddow specifically. If this episode doesn't demonstrate once and for all what a bunch of clueless shills these people are on MSNBC nothing will ever convince you. You can also tell Matthews was very offended by Bachmann's comment. They just don't get it there.

Law curbs McDonald's Happy Meal toys
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20101103/us_nm/us_mcdonalds_toys

How could anyone live in such a place? Regardless of what you think about nutrition, and Happy Meals specifically, do you really want the government dictating what you should eat or how to raise your children? Do you want your government creating laws that say you can't give a toy away with a meal? Is that how they should be spending their time? Is this how the people of SF want to live? Every step of their lives dictated to them? Are they brain-dead to the point they need a helicopter government hovering over them everyday, making sure they are making the "right" decisions? Are they uber-lazy people and just don't want to have to make choices and feel the govenment should be doing that for them?

I'm from California but I just don't get how we can have such a place so alien from the rest of the country. What happened in SF? What happened to bring all these sorts of people to this one place in our country?

I know I asked a bunch of rhetorical questions but it truly does boggle my mind what goes on in California, and more specifically SF. Probably the most beautiful state with the most to offer in the country, yet the most unusual people habitate it. Of course I understand not all the people there are like that but most are, thus you have the trends in California you do. If these sorts of people were in a minority there you wouldn't be seeing California self-destruct before our very eyes.
