Excellent rendering of 6804. I did see the likeness of a cometary disk in my scope.I and a couple of other observers also thought it looked like an inverted christmas tree.

Viewing limits

Well, I guess I will have to inform the makers of scopes to increase the light grasp specs on their products. For example, the "limiting" visual magnitude for an 8" is listed as mag 14 while for a 10" it is 14.5, as per manufacturing specs. I would stress these are maximum theoretical achievable magnitudes as stated by the maker(s). Most scopes don't achieve max performance for a variety of reasons so it's unlikely that the stated maximums will be achieved at all.

Anza-Borrego Observing Report

As usual, another great report with sketches to match!
I observed Hubble's variable nebula a few months ago with my 16" dob and this object alone was worth the price of admission!
With all of the poor weather we have encountered here in California during new moon, your report helps satisfy the craving for DSOs, if only for a short while...

Good night on Mt. Pinos

I had hopes for a night at Pinos last Tuesday but as you know, the clear sky clock did not bode well. It did predict better conditions on Wednesday but I wasn't able to go. Glad to know you were able to take advantage of it. It appears you had quite the tour of DSOs!

Monster Objects in Cetus

Two ojects in Cetus were stunning in my 16" F4.5 dob: NGC 247 is impressively large as it filled almost the entire field of my pentax xl 10.5 mm eyepiece. It reminded me of the core of m-31 at higher powers. NGC 246 is an awesome planetary that looks very large with a soap bubble appearance.
Also, check-out NGC 157 which is fairly large in the eyepiece with some mottling at higher power.

Omega Centauri

I've observed it from Lockwood Valley many years ago but not from Pinos. I think it's too low for Pinos and as you suspect, it's likely to be in the tree line. It would probably be relatively easy from the summit of Pinos but you would have to back-pack a scope to get up there.
I think it would probably be seen from Red Rock Canyon since you can view down to the horizon at that site.
