To battle!

Hey, that's great stuff John! I hadn't seen it before. I didn't read them all, but the ones I checked out were pretty funny. There is a fair bit of truth in there I'm afraid... wink

The Power to Wage War

Posted By Joe Lentz
I don't know why congress seems to have a backbone shortage when it comes to a president deciding he and his buddies want to have a war. Probably has a lot to do with politics, but I guess that much is obvious.

BUT, since a president does have that power (lately) then we as citizens have to be as certain as we can to elect people who are CAPABLE of making good judgements about war and alternatives to war.

I realize this choice often seems to be the "lesser of two evils", but at least THAT choice is within our power and it carries enormous responsibility. The consequences of abdicating that responsibility are becoming clear to an increasing number of people.

How to get more backbone into congress? More capable leaders into the white house? It will only happen when citizens become informed and involved enough to stop being used as pawns in their own government.

Can God be 'conscious'?

Posted By Joe Lentz
Paul, your "being" must be one busy dude!! But wait, not if he's done with all the processing! But of course she's never done. Even as a time traveller the work would continue and change would continue, the knowledge base would expand, it couldn't be static. I think you're trying to paint us into a corner!!

Personally I think that god just takes a lot of naps. wink

The Da Vinci Code

Posted By Joe Lentz
I haven't read it David, but from the reviews I've seen it looks to be a good thriller. Have you read it, and if so what did you think?

I'm not sure what the "blasphemous" reference from the other poster was about, afterall, this book IS a work of fiction.

The Marlins did it again...

Posted By Joe Lentz
Yup, it was a good game to watch alright, and some FINE pitching by the young Josh Beckett! I like the Marlins team overall though. It is expecially gratifying to see the Yanks beat on their own turf. ;-)

Progress ?

Posted By Joe Lentz
Bush's earlier reference to an escalation of violence as proof of progress must represent the ultimate spin. Just how far are the hawks are willing to bend the truth in their attempts to justify this mess to the US public? My heart goes out to the servicemen and their families who are continuing to make the greatest sacrifice in this "post-victory" phase of our war.

Another taste of hate...

Posted By Joe Lentz
What a celebration of hate and ignorance. And the attempt to justify such a warped idea in terms of religion is particularly obscene. Absolutely amazing...
