Jupiter 06/19 Aborted Merger

Posted By Christopher Go

News of our merger have been greatly exaggerated! The Jovian Security and Exchange Agency refused our proposal to merge due to the crowded nature of the NEB. Therefore WOZ and WOY have agreed to remain independent for now...
****

Conditions were not great this evening. Although seeing was wonderful transparency ranged from 2-3/5! I still have lots of data to process. About 15GB more to go!! The NEB White Oval Z and Y have really stalled. Will they merge? Note the dark area above Y.

More images later!

Jupiter 06/21 GRS and Oval BA

Posted By Christopher Go

Hello

Here's one of my best images of Jupiter! Note the hint of Vortex in the red ring of the Oval BA. The white spot at the center has really shrunk compared to the May 28 image. The white shell surround BA has changed from circular on May 28 to oblong similar to what happened during the last BA/GRS conjunction!

Note the very busy NEB and the gathering of white spots on the North Temperate Region.

Processing Challenge

Posted By Christopher Go

Hi Guys,

I just uploaded a set of image of Jupiter. I applied some wavelets on these images. I was wondering how you guys would process these images.

These are individual RGB images and save on 16bit tiff. I did not to any histo stretch but you can adjust levels on this.

You can get the image set at:

Saturn 11/22 "New" Band Identified

Posted By Christopher Go

This is my latest image of Saturn. I have finally identified the "new" band as the NNTZ. This is the first time this band was observed here on earth since 1998. Note also that this band is brightening! Note the oval above the NNTZ. Is this a storm or is this Mimas' shadow? This feature also appears on a second image that I made.

As a bonus, Tethys and Enceladus are visible beside Saturn.

Saturn 12/12

Posted By Christopher Go

After an exciting 2 weeks where we had a brush with Super Typhoon Durian and a near miss with Typhoon Udon, clear skies are back. I was also sick after taking my last image probably due to flu and fatigue!

Condition was great this morning. The sky was very steady. Note the northern hemisphere of Saturn gets more and more visible now. The NNTZ is very prominent! There are even details on the NNTB!!

The Southern hemisphere belts are getting clearer as we get near opposition and as Saturn gets bigger and bigger.
This is my best image of Saturn!
