A Real Conspiracy ?

Posted By Tom Rodstrom

In answering yet another of Patrick's trolls (What? No sarcastic comments?), I did a search of Yahoo News for "israel china arms" to find the story about the latest Israeli sale of US arms technology to China. Here's what I got:

http://search.news.yahoo.com/search/news/?p=israel+china+arms&c=

I consider this to be a BIG story, but if you look at the list, none of the news about this sale are from major US media companies. WHY NOT?

On Edit:
Added name of troll thread (What? No sarcastic comments?) to first line.

Mad Cow Cover-up

Posted By Tom Rodstrom

The Agriculture Department suspected a case of mad cow disease in NOVEMBER. There was a definitive test that could have been done, but the Agriculture Department refused to do the test. Finally the Inspector General for the Agriculture department ordered a test. Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns was "irked" because he was not notified until the test was underway. In my opinion, he is criminally negligent for not doing his job. He should be fired.

Call me naive, but it is my opinion that the Agriculture Department is responsible for protecting the public from mad cow disease over and above any responsibility for protecting the bottom line of big business.

U.S. Refused to Do Extra Mad-Cow Test

Consumers Union Urges USDA to Adopt Western Blot as Definitive Mad Cow Test

"Consumers Union wrote John R. Clifford, Deputy Administrator of the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service in January, urging the agency to employ the Western blot test on all past and future suspect mad cow cases, and obtain independent review of any positive test results from the expert laboratory in Weybridge, England. It wrote on the same topic to Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns in February."

This site has it's own agenda, but a lot of the information has been shown to be accurate.

Second MAD COW From Texas Identified.

Posted By Tom Rodstrom

This one was born in Texas and it's name wasn't George. wink

I think that this just goes to show that we have no idea how extensive mad cow disease is in the US.

Second Case of Mad Cow Traced to Texas

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20050630/ap_on_re_us/mad_cow_12

Officials said beef from Texas and the rest of the U.S. is the safest in the world.

They missed the part where the official said: "Trust me, I am from the Bush government."

ON EDIT: The story says: "It was killed at a pet-food plant in Waco, Texas, but the plant rejected using it." I wonder if this was an appempt to get rid of a sick cow without testing by sending it to a pet food plant.

Re: Is this representative...

Democrats don't need an idiot that would make a statement like that. Taken out of context the "They want to kill me ..." statement probably looks worse than it sounds by itself, but Republicans don't want to kill Democrats and it serves no purpose to make such a statement.

Saying Republicans want to take our wealth and give it to the very rich, or Bush did not make America more secure when he attacked Iraq might have some merit.

Re: Keeping balance on the court

From what I've seen the Democrats expect a conservative but they don't want one as radical as some Republican special interest groups want. I suspect that the "gang of 14 will have a lot to say in the matter".

Jim, this article has so much RRR (Radical Right-wing Rhetoric wink ) that it is difficult read and more difficult to see the point(s) it is trying to make. Can you tell me what the article is trying to prove?

2000 Troops Dead for What?

Posted By Tom Rodstrom

More that 2000 coalition troops have been killed to date and IMO this is what we are really fighting for in Iraq:

Israel to Expand West Bank Settlement

"This is an existing area that will always be part of Israel."

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050804/ap_on_re_mi_ea/israel_palestinians

For decades, every President has admonished Israel for expanding settlements in the West Bank and UN has called these settlements in former Jordanian land illegal. It is obvious that this this issue fans the flame of Arab hatred for the US because we are the only major supporter of Israel.

My question is:

Why haven't we even given Israel a slap on the wrist, much less major sanctions over this issue?

Corrupt Republicans crush patriot for Halliburton

Posted By Tom Rodstrom

This post is dedicated to Patrick.

This is a story about an smart, honest, government worker who protects "the interests of my government and my country. So help me God."

"In the world as Bunnatine Greenhouse sees it, people do the right thing. They stand up for the greater good and they speak up when things go wrong."

"She has asked many questions: Why is Halliburton — a giant Texas firm that holds more than 50 percent of all rebuilding efforts in Iraq — getting billions in contracts without competitive bidding? Do the durations of those contracts make sense? Have there been violations of federal laws regulating how the government can spend its money?"

"Last October 6, she was summoned to the office of her boss. Major Gen. Robert Griffin, the Corps' deputy commander, was demoting her, he told her, taking away her Senior Executive Service status and sending her to midlevel management. Not unlike being cast out of the office of bank president into the cubicle of branch manager. Griffin declined to be interviewed by the AP."

"I have never gone along to get along. And I'm willing to suffer the consequences," she said.

"Her contracting staff was sharply reduced, she said, and her superiors have gone behind her back, most notably in issuing an emergency waiver — on a day she was out of the office — that allowed KBR to ignore requests from Department of Defense auditors who issued a draft report in 2003 concluding KBR overcharged the government $61 million for fuel in Iraq."

"They knew I would never have signed it," she said. "

I call this woman a patriot, fighting corruption. What does the Cheney Pentagon do, crush her like a bug.

Cheney's net worth, estimated to be between $30 million and $100 million, is largely derived from his post at Halliburton. (Wikipedia)
