C-102HD or C-150HD?

Which scope is better for the money? I am looking to sell my dob for funds, but should I buy the C-102HD right away.
Or should I wait a little longer till I get the extra funds from Christmas gifts?

Or...should I get an OTA of one of them? What mount might
accompany these scopes best, and that won't cost $600?

OK, OK, I'm not exactly new at astromart, but some new terms have come into plian sight. I learned a long time ago conUS meant shipped in the Continental United States. Off course the ever popular OTA, or optical tube assembly was a sinch to figure out. Now this new one....."OBO".....what the heck does that stand for. Can anyone help me with this annoying little three word abreviation?

Hello Fellow AstroMarters...
Being that I'm in eigth grade, I tend to write alot of papers for English class. We have started our persuisive essays and I have decided to take on light pollution as my subject. I know about the Internation Dark Sky website...but was wondering if anyone else can give me more directions to othe such web pages. I've searched the IDA website hours...but still don't have enough info to support some of my facts. All replies welcome...

It's pretty sad I had to repost this in a more popular forum. As an astronomer I find it one of mmy duties to promote light Pollution Awareness. I left the above message in the acutal IDA Forum for about days...and have had no replies...save our stars...

10" Dob

Have any of you noticed the pre-oredering on the 10 inch dob for $399? Are these jokes optically...or produced like Coulters? I mean...they say the tubes are metal. I looked at the kits too. The parts look decent, I dunno. Is it worth the risk? OR should I forget the price difference of a nice used Orion or Discovery? All thoughts welcome...

Does Meade sell it's LXD55 mounts serparetly? I have a 4.5 Orion Dob right now, and was going to buy a mount for a refracter (eventually). The things is...I've decided what mount I'd like, but the OTA type is up ofr grabs. Can anyone supply me with a website just selling the LXD55 mount? Thanks in advance!

What Category?

I want to sell my 4.5 Orion Dob cover, but am debating which category to put it in. Would the Reflector or the Filters, Finders, Misc be best? Or am I missing another hidden category?

This is a very rudimentary question...that I can't answer. ;-).
How do you find the focal length of a lens? I found a piece of surplus material at a optical shop that's selling very cheap. Only problem is, the owner doesn't know what the focal length is. Any help please?

Meade's 10" Dob Mirror Cell

Soon I will be aquiring a Meade 10" Starfinder. The seller says that the Meade mirror cells are basically pieces of plywood. Could anyone supply me with an image so I know hwat I'm getting myself into?

Mirror Cell Measurement PLEASE!

Hello Hello AStroMarters!

Can anyone tell me the diameter of the tube needed (at minimum) to install a ten inch University Optics alluminum mirror cell? I have a standard f/4.5 Meade Starfinder dob. The original cell consists of the mirror being glued onto particle board. Always reasuring looking at lower scorpius with your mirror held in place by good old elmer...;-).
