Hi Michael, seems like we're all having the same problem . I live in Bellevue (WA), and yesterday was my first time to use my scope again after 2 months waiting.

clear skies (please)

Saturn (finally after 2 months +)

Posted By Jefferson Teng

Hi all,

Finally, I got a chance to image with my scope again after two months of cloudy nights. I managed to capture some *.avi files of Saturn, then I spent some time to try my autoguider for the first time, but of course the clouds rolled in.

I decided not to use any filter to gather as much light as possible for my 5.1" aperture scope. I had to crank up the brightness in order to lower gain by a little bit. The images were stacked using Registax and processed using Photoshop. It feels good to be able to image again smile.

clear skies (please),

Jeff

Jupiter Feb 10th 04

Posted By Jefferson Teng

Hi all,

We had couple days clearing last week so I took some Jupiter images with my TOA130. Since I'm not allowed to use the backyard anymore (grass problem), I have to image from the house deck now. It's good to image from the deck since Jupiter wasn't visible from the backyard until around 2-3 AM, but I have to be a statue while recording the *.avi .

The transparency was pretty good, but the image is a bit soft on details, maybe since Jupiter was still over the roof when I imaged it. But overall, I really enjoy this one.

here're some details:

Time : 00 13 AM PST
Image is 75% of original size.
5.1" refractor @ apprx. f/38.5
Toucam Pro & Powermate 5x
10 fps, Gain 40%, Saturation max., white balance "auto", gamma 20%, brightness 45%.

248 frames out of 1200.
KCCDtools, Registax, and Photoshop.

Clear skies,

Jefferson Teng

help identifying this star

Posted By Jefferson Teng

Hi everyone,

I took this image this morning, I thought it was nice to see Jupiter's moon lining up. Can anyone help me identifying the name of the star which is above Io on the image?

Thank you,

Jeff

Jupiter March 11st 04

Posted By Jefferson Teng

Hi all,

I missed the first day of last clear skies here in Seattle, but I managed to get this image on the 2nd day (last day of clearing). Good seeing condition, and about average transparency.

5.1" refractor (Tak TOA-130) @ apprx f/38.5
Powermate 5x & Toucam Pro.
700 frms / 900 frms (10 fps) - 90secs
Gain 40%, shutter 1/25, white balance "auto", saturation 100%, gamma 10%, brightness 45%.

Oh btw, I decided to setup on the backyard again. I was imaging from the deck, and now I found a spot where I won't destroy the lawn. It feels really good to image without having to breath really slow during recording :-).

Clear skies everyone,

Jeff

Equator NFL, and the field goal is good!

Recently moved back home from Seattle to Indonesia for good, I tested my DSLR (30s on a camera tripod) under warm tropical night at a suburban area of Jakarta.

Those two papaya tree trunks reminds me on how much I'm going to miss watching NFL games and the 2006 season. smile

Jupiter from equator area

Posted By Jefferson Teng

hi guys,

I haven't done any webcam imaging since 2004. Now, I'm back home and here's my first Jupiter image from Indonesia (Jupiter's overhead, seeing was 9/10)

2nd version (with Registax4 wavelet):

TOA130 @f/38.5 (Powermate 5x) and old-buddy Toucam Pro

any comments between ver1 or ver2?

clear skies,

jeff

Hi Tom,

Nice one!
Looks like Poncho got aperture fever (was he looking at your scope when this shot was taken?) smile.
