Norman W. Edmund 1916-2012 R.I.P.

Posted By Randolph Groundwater

Many thanks for posting this. I was definitely one of those kids who wore out the Edmund catalog looking at all the goodies, especially in the astronomy section. And I still have my treasured copy of "All About Telescopes" (compilation) by Sam Brown, that gave me the courage to turn myself into an ATM back in 1970. R.I.P. Norman Edmund!

Old equatorial mount

Posted By Randolph Groundwater

My old copy of Henry E. Paul's classic "Telescopes for Skygazing", which contains many photos of instruments from the 60's and earlier, showed nothing resembling the details of this mount.

Here's a useful website that you could explore http://geogdata.csun.edu/~voltaire/classics/

Good luck with your search!

Saturn with Moons July 17

Superb resolution - just a stunning portrait. Much better than that Cassini probe's attempt at imaging Earth, a couple of days later!

Zodiacal light

A very beautiful capture. In all the years I have only had the opportunity to be in the right place and under the right conditions a small handful of times to see it - and never with a camera at hand
