At last one image: Propeller nebula

Posted By Gilles Cohen

Hi all,

after several months without imaging opportunity because of poor weather on the riviera, I was finally able to shoot again my favorite Hydrogen alpha targets!

Because of the heavy light pollution in my area and the high temperatures at night (impossible to cool below -10C), I used long total exposure time to keep good signal.
Here is the result of 6 hours on two nights, on may 26th and 28th.
AP155EDF with Baader Ha 7nm filter.
More information at:

Comments and criticisms are welcome,

Best regards,

Gilles

Bubble Soap nebula in Cygnus

Posted By Gilles Cohen

Hi all,

I decided to make an imaging attempt on a rarely imaged object, recently discovered ;-))

I spent two nights on it, because it is so faint. I also decided to use long cumulative exposure time to have a smooth result because of my heavily light polluted area (visual magnitude was maybe 3 or 3,5).
As a result, I only slept 4 hours this week end...
So, here is the Bubble in Cygnus, close to the Crescent nebula, officially discovered by Dave Jurasevich.
I used 32x15 minutes, 8 hours of data, taken with my 155EDF with flattener on 900GTO mount, ST10XME camera at -10C, 7nm Ha Baader filter. Manual focus.
The second night had a terrific seeing below 2 arc seconds, giving me perfect tiny stars.

Here is the link to the webpage, there is a link to the full size below the image:

I hope you'll enjoy the result!

Regards,

Gilles

NGC7822, Ced214

Posted By Gilles Cohen

Hi,

at the request of Roland, and for those who don't follow Apug , here is my last image, taken with my fellow 155EDF ( I LOVE this scope).
Attached is NGC7822 and Cederblad 214 area taken on September 03, 10 and 11th.
155EDF with 155TCC and QSI583wsg, Baader 7nm Ha filter.
900GTO mount.
38x15 minutes, guided at 3 sec. Moderate seeing.
Manual focus.
Mag 3.5 skies....(for those using the Sky Quality Meter, values between 17 to 17.5).

Here is the link to my webpage, the link to the full size is right below the web image.

AP Barcon

Posted By Gilles Cohen

For visual use you can insert the Barcon into your diagonal to work at x1.7, or before the diagonal to work at x2 ( but you will need in this case an extension tube to focus if I remember well).
For imaging, you can screw only the optical part on your 2" nosepiece ( I personnally prefer the AP16T), and you will get approximately X1.7.
You field you should cover without noticeable degradation is depending on your F scope ratio, the shorter it is the more distorsion you will have.
There is also the Baader FFC which will have some flattening effect, but much more expensive.

NGC7635 The Bubble

Nice first result Robert.
Focus seems OK, guiding too.
As Roland says, you need more exposure! Go ahead!
