This is as near as I can recall what Uranus looked like last July. It was July 27, 2002 at around 400 UT-500 UT. 10", No filter (too dim through filters), 580X, seeing: 9-10, transparancy: perfectly clear, Altitude: 9000ft+.

Finaly found it.

Here is my Pluto observation from last June. 10" f5.6 @74X, seeing ~4. Times and dates are on the picture. They are centered at around RA 17h04m30s DEC -12*40' and are upside down compared to what something like Megastar would show you. Note that my handwriting is pretty poor when it's the middle of the night and my red flashlight is malfunctioning.

Interesting Jovian feature back?

This morning 01/18/03 between 950 and 1000 UT what looked like the same oval feature mentioned in this thread, http://www.astromart.com/messages.asp?message_id=33164&page=2
transited the central meridian. It was best seen with a #15 yellow and #11 yellow green. 10", 290X, seeing ~5-6. The thing was maby 1/3 the length of the GRS.

Ed? are you the Ed taychert that has the folded 18" and 20" dobs on Mel Bartel's site? If so, could you tell me how comfortable they are to use, especially near the zenith? I'm going to be making a large folded dob this summer, and I wanted to hear from someone who had made one before.
