Am I doing it wrong?

Posted By Roger Johnson

If I am serious about buying, I always include the phrase "Paypal stands by, or I can send a personal check and wait for it to clear." This way there is little room left for misunderstanding.

TMB Parfaol Supermonocentric 4,5,6 mm going in Pro

Posted By Roger Johnson

I just received the 16mm ocular and I can't say how deeply disappointed I am in your choice to change the ocular's construction to the cheap, stiff eyecup that only the 25mm aspheric unit originally had. Your ad for the reissue of the 12, 14 and 16mm units showed the original stock photos, which naturally did not have this stiff, raised eyecup. If you can supply me with an original-type top housing, please do.

Those who are considering the 4,5 and 6mm reissued units may wish in advance to know if the new units will sport a cheap, stiff, raised eyecup or will be a reproduction of the original ocular.

Do you like the new ad format better?

Posted By Roger Johnson

The 'new' viewer is slower to load than any other viewer-type system, be it Cloudy Nights, Ebay or whatever. As Herb suggested, I 'adjust' by looking at the smaller pic on the main page and ignore the viewer, just reading the copy. Too bad there are no options under 'Display Preferences.' :S

USPS Lost the shipment

Posted By Roger Johnson

Was wondering if the 'delivery confirmation' was a signature confirmation? Regardless, it is still your responsibility. You knew this was shipping to an apartment complex, where it is a given that delivery problems can/will exist. IMO you were negligent. Time to step up to the plate and own up to your responsibility. Next time don't be so penny-wise and pound foolish. wink

At present I am unable to remain logged in. This anomaly has occurred within the last 24 hours.

Classifieds page excruciatingly slow

Posted By Roger Johnson

Thursday and Friday the Astromart Classifeds page loaded quickly.  Saturday and Sunday the Classifieds page (when viewing 'show all') thumbnail loading process is sloooow.  Did a cookie delete to be sure the browser wasn't the culprit, still slow.

Classifieds page excruciatingly slow

Thanks Greg, I hope it was just my connection at the time.  Weekends are sometimes tough here, infrastructure is limited and users outnumber the available resources.  Weather has also been a factor, some high winds disrupting the nearby data towers.  After resigning myself to dealing with what I received and giving the time required to load the Classifieds page it seems to be working well.  Just haven't had trouble before like this particular weekend.  I wouldn't wish this on any other Astromart members and don't wish to complicate the tech guys' task working to make Astromart Great again!

Astromart vs Cloudy Nights page loading experiences

Posted By Roger Johnson

I find that loading a page of ads on CN to take mere seconds, while Astromart takes minutes.  Sigh...
I refer to the initial loading process of previously unviewed pages with their associated thumbnails.  After the page has completed loading, the page may be revisited without delay (obviously).

Astromart vs Cloudy Nights page loading experiences

Posted By Roger Johnson

That Cloudy Nights loads for you as quickly for me, yet for me, Astromart lags I find interesting, regardless of whether employing my RAM-jammed quad-core laptop or much older desktop when loading the two sites.  If internet speed were the sole factor, I am at a loss for the new Astromart page thumbnails taking so long to load, particularly since it has been a relatively recent development.  Cleanups have routinely been implemented, unfortunately.  Will continue to look for more hoops to jump through.
