Weight for the new 14"Posted By Don Spencer |
Anyone know how much the new 14" GPS weighs? I wen to Meade's site and it's weight is not listed. The 12" is just about the max weight one would want for portability.

12" LX200 primary scratched...HELP!Posted By Don Spencer |
Well, I am not going to go into the idiotic reasons as to why my primary mirror is scratched. Suffice it to say, it was user error! To get it replaced by Meade, I have to buy both the primary and secondary at $1750. for that price, I'll dump the thing and buy a new 10" GPS. I love this scope and hate to part with it. Does anyone know if this mirror can be repaired? If so, by whom?

12 shots with a Sony s75 coupled to a 22mm Nagler. Staked in Astrostack. First attempt with the new camera. Will have to monkey around with the settings somemore.

In the photo posted below, you will see some of the lessons I have learned the hard way.
First, never shine a light at the camera, not even a red one! The seals on my camera are very good, so we believe that the light leak is in the viewfinder.
second, even when shooting piggy back and auto guiding through the scope (Giant Easy Guider and an ST-4), you still need to lock the mirror down or, don't allow the shot to cross the meridian.You get double stars! These are hard lessons to learn when one is standing outside on a cold winter night! *L*

Spiratone 400mm f/6.3 lens The lines you see where an artifact of the scan process.

While testing out a new diaganol and shooting some shots of saturn, I decided to give my digital camera a shot at a star.

I'm hoping someone can help me out here. I have been shooting through a 120mm Orion astroview. The problem I have been having is vignetting. I was hoping someone could remove the vignetting from this image and explain how they did it.

Hey folks.
Since we have been clouded over here for what seems years, I was working on honing my Photoshop techniques on an old Ikeya-Zhang photo taken back on 4/14/02 at 4 am. At the time, this comet was low in the NE sky in Cassiopiea. A ribbon type nebula showed up in the lower left quadrant but the only thing in see in "The Sky" for this area is a planetary nebula.
